Job Description:

The Academic and Information Technology Assistant Coordinator at Berklee College of Music’s Valencia campus assists the Academic and Information Technology Manager with the daily maintenance and operation of the campus’s state-of-the-art systems. They will maintain technology labs, studios, and classroom computers and audio-visual systems, as well as providing technical support for internet/WiFi, telecommunications, printing, and campus-wide hardware and software for all students, faculty, and staff.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive hardware, software, and peripheral support for students, faculty, and staff across all campus facilities.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to computer systems, printers, and mobile devices to ensure minimal downtime for end-users.

  • Monitor and maintain campus-wide connectivity, including wired/wireless networks and cellular service.

  • Monitor and support critical backend services such as data storage systems and networked printing solutions.

  • Execute the setup, operation, and maintenance of audiovisual (AV) equipment in classrooms and common areas to support seamless instructional delivery.

  • Execute regular maintenance and patching of campus workstations to ensure all systems are secure and up to date.

  • Manage software lifecycles, including deployment, configuration, and license compliance for academic and administrative use.

  • Instruct faculty and staff on day-to-day policies, procedures, administrative software and facilities use.

  • Monitor the ticket system in order to solve hardware and software problems.

  • Maintain IT facilities organized and equipment inventory updated.

  • Assist deploying temporary network installations between the campus and external facilities (Palau, Science Museum, etc.)

  • Assist the Production Team, providing any necessary support for events both on and off campus

  • Additional responsibilities as required.


Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Experience performing administrative tasks within Active Directory and Google Workspace (e.g., managing groups, permissions, and organizational units).

  • Familiarity with Mobile Device Management (MDM) tools like FileWave or Jamf to deploy software and maintain system configurations.

  • Practical understanding of virtual environments with ability to navigate and perform basic console tasks in VMware or similar platforms.

  • Solid grasp of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, switching and routing protocols), including ability to diagnose connectivity issues and understand the impact of VLANs on a campus network environment.

  • Functional knowledge of network and data security, and assisting users with MFA enrollment and VPN troubleshooting.

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair a variety of hardware, including Windows/macOS laptops, mobile devices, and networked printers.

  • Competency in managing audio/video signal flow and hardware (projectors, switchers, video matrixes, audio mixers) to support classroom and event technology.

  • Experience using ITSM platforms to manage tickets, prioritize tasks, and contribute to a technical knowledge base.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Must work well under pressure, both independently and as part of a group

  • Reliable and organized, with the ability to take ownership of assigned tasks and manage time effectively.

  • Fluency in English and Spanish at level B2 or above (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages);

Valuable Skills

  • While a Bachelor’s degree is not a requirement, having one in a relevant field will be valued

  • Experience with Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) is a plus.
