Genentech, Inc. seeks a Finance Enterprise Partner - Pharma Technical Development at its South San Francisco, CA location.
Duties: Review and analyze monthly and quarterly financial data, and develop insights. Review and present insightful financial updates and variance analysis to key business stakeholders in order to enable transparency into financial performance and drivers and optimize resource allocation; support trade-off decisions due to strategy changes. Guide business leadership through investment decisions via weighing benefits and costs. Provide ad hoc analysis on strategic projects, including but not limited to impact measurement metrics and investment prioritizations, and present to senior management. Diligently build and maintain effective business partnerships between stakeholders and Finance through close collaboration and regular meetings. Provide financial due diligence on potential business deals and acquisitions. Review and implement process improvement initiatives that align with group and departmental goals, and take a lead role in those process improvement projects. Stay abreast of and communicate/educate business partners on all financial processes, accounting policies, internal controls, and Healthcare Compliance policies that are relevant to business activities, to ensure adherence and compliance (including contract payment terms, expense recognition policies, approval hierarchy policy, controls around contracts/PO approvals, proper accruals). Serve as a subject matter expert on audit support, reporting to external collaboration partners, utilizing relevant financial systems, tools, data sets and reports, and reporting capabilities of databases. Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models to calculate key metrics (e.g., Net Present Value, Net Present Cost, depreciation) for large capital projects, providing critical analysis to support investment decision-making. Create and manage Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) models for molecules in early-stage development, collaborating closely with Technical Development Leaders to establish accurate cost projections. Collaborate closely with the international capex team (Switzerland) on the end-to-end planning and monitoring of capital project expenditures and timelines, supporting the creation of credit applications and compliance to internal rules and regulations. Support the successful rollout of the new SAP S4 Hanna system by validating financial data, testing system functionalities, and ensuring alignment with financial reporting requirements for Pharma Technical Development. Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on molecule Theme Codes, leveraging time-coded data to generate insightful reports that differentiate between direct and indirect costs. Serve as the primary financial liaison between Research & Development (R&D) and Pharma Technical Operations (PTO), ensuring accurate and aligned planning and tracking of Product Variable Costs for molecules across the entire development lifecycle. Support the financial planning and management of medical device projects in development. Work closely with the Device Development Team and other cross-functional partners to develop, track, and manage accurate budgets for devices in the early to mid-stages of development. Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week.
Education and experience required: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field, and 7 years of post-baccalaureate progressive experience in job offered, or related position
Alternative education and experience required: Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field, and 5 years of experience in job offered, or related position

The expected annual salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position of California is $181,848 to $239,200 per year. Actual pay within the range will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
