The Team:  Join a dynamic and collaborative team focused on driving S&P Global's growth and operational excellence in the West Africa region. This dual secondment role allows you to maintain your current responsibilities while engaging in new leadership opportunities in Nigeria, ensuring alignment with corporate values and strategic objectives. 

 

Secondment Overview: 

 

This hybrid leadership role will involve reporting to your current manager for your existing responsibilities while also engaging with the Yankari team for West Africa operations. The successful candidate will serve as S&P Global’s senior representative in Nigeria, driving sales growth and overseeing the launch and long-term success of S&P Global’s new Abuja office. In addition, you will act as a culture carrier for this office, ensuring a successful startup that aligns with our emerging markets strategy.

Responsibilities and Impact: 

 

Office & Operational Leadership 

  • Lead the establishment and long-term sustainability of the Abuja office, ensuring operational excellence and compliance with Nigerian laws and regulations. 

  • Oversee local vendor management, facilities, and budgeting, focusing on risk management, governance, and operational efficiency. 

  • Serve as the senior escalation point for HR, legal, and operational matters; support local recruitment, onboarding, and training of new staff aligned with S&P Global values. 

  • Transition day-to-day administrative responsibilities to a dedicated office manager within 6 months. 

 

Stakeholder & External Engagement 

  • Act as S&P Global’s senior representative in Nigeria, engaging with clients, regulators, and government stakeholders. 

  • Build and nurture partnerships with government affairs, corporate communications, and industry associations. 

  • Represent the company at external forums, conferences, and media platforms to enhance visibility and reputation. 

  • Foster a cohesive, high-performing culture within the Abuja office that aligns with S&P Global values. 

 

What We’re Looking For: 

 

Basic Required Qualifications: 

 

  • Proven experience in leadership roles, with a strong track record in operational management and sales enablement. 

  • Preference given to candidates who are currently working in S&P Global Energy 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with various stakeholders. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on achieving results and driving growth. 

  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks, as you will be required to perform dual duties (current job and this 6-month secondment opportunity). 

  • A desire to hone leadership skills and develop as a strategic thinker, demonstrating a commitment to personal and professional growth. 

  • Familiarity with Nigerian laws and regulations related to business operations is preferred, although not essential.
