4-H Camp at Seven Mountains, Camp Nurse

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Purpose of position

The 4-H camp nurse is responsible for promoting good health habits and camp safety, for giving all emergency first aid treatment, and for distributing all medication to campers and staff.

Primary Duties

  • Complete required trainings prior to attending camp
  • Receive camper’s medications and information on any conditions at the start of camp
  • Administer prescribed medications
  • Be available at all times for emergencies
  • Prepare medication list
  • Keep medications locked up at all times.
  • Keep health forms private at all times
  • Attend counselor meetings and make sure that counselors are aware of camper medications if necessary
  • Enter all medication dispersals and treatments in logbook
  • Record all major accidents on Accident Report form
  • Notify Camp Director when supplies need to be re-ordered
  • Take inventory at the end of camp
  • Keep in continual contact with the Camp Director

Qualifications:

Registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, or paramedics may provide medical services to camp. Nursing and medical staff are responsible for obtaining their own professional liability insurance.

Position requires excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to work independently. Must be a team player who can work with diverse youth and adults. The candidate must be able to be able to carry equipment and supplies, with or without accommodation.

Applicant must also be willing to work flexible hours during camp week, June 21-26, 2026. 4-H Camp is held in Spring Mills, PA at the Seven Mountains Scout Camp.

 

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
