The Welder II position is designed for individuals with proven TIG welding experience (minimum of 3 years) in a manufacturing environment. Certification is not required, as RTX provides internal certification on specific parts and processes.

The focus of this role is to perform advanced welding operations with limited supervision, ensuring precision and adherence to established manufacturing specifications and quality standards. A Welder II is expected to demonstrate proficiency in setting up and operating a variety of automatic and manual welding equipment to produce high-quality precision parts.

External candidates will receive a $1,000 sign on bonus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in TIG welding tasks with minimal supervision to meet quality and production standards.
  • Learn and operate automatic and manual welding machines according to specifications, ensuring proper setup and calibration for the assigned work.
  • Perform cleaning operations after welding, as required, to complete the weld and maintain production quality.
  • Inspect and check dimensions using precision gauges and measuring instruments to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Learn alloy and assembly operations necessary for furnace operations and integrate these processes into production tasks.
  • Operate CNC equipment as required to complete welding processes, following operational guidelines.
  • Perform non-production welds as needed and support the development of specialized welding tasks.
  • Accurately read and interpret blueprints and specification sheets to guide welding and production activities.
  • Complete production documentation with accuracy, including necessary labor transactions and quality reporting.
  • Actively support and adhere to all rules, guidelines, and standards set by Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS), Quality, and Continuous Improvement (CI) functions.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement processes to enhance production efficiency and safety.
  • Work extended shifts or overtime hours as required by business needs. Some holiday hours may also be required based on operational demands.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a HS Diploma or vocational/technical education in related discipline.

Additional Expectations:
Welder II candidates are expected to continue developing their skills and knowledge in advanced welding techniques while contributing to the overall success of the team. They must maintain a high level of craftsmanship and attention to detail, collaborating with Lead Technicians, Supervisors, or Engineers for troubleshooting and process improvements.

This position does not require external certifications, as RTX certifies welders internally on specific parts and processes to ensure compliance and quality excellence
