The Yard Driver performs diverse duties to include moving semi-trailers in and out of loading docks and around the facility yard in a safe and effective manner.  This position will also require the incumbent to operate powered industrial equipment and pick orders in accordance with established procedures. This role is on 2nd shift with the hours from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and is located on-site at our distribution facility at 110 Rockwell Drive in Greeneville, TN.

Roles Responsibilities:

  • ​Ability to follow work instructions and safety rules
  • Operate yard tractor equipment safely so as to prevent injury to oneself and to others as well as ensure no property damage occurs to docks, fences, gates, structures, other vehicles, etc.
  • Ensure that correct trailers are spotted into correct dock doors for loading and unloading
  • Perform a daily yard report to ensure trailers are located correctly in the yard and docks
  • Ensure that trailers are chocked properly to ensure safe forklift operation when dock locks fail
  • Ensure trailers are not pulled away from dock until properly cleared for removal
  • Inspect and report maintenance and safety malfunctions or damage of equipment to supervisor/lead
  • Perform misc. services on yard tractor equipment on a daily basis such as oil level checks, tire pressure, fuel supply and general cleanliness
  • Required to be reachable by company provided radio
  • Safely operate power industrial equipment to pick orders when necessary
  • Perform basic computer skills including use of keyboard and monitors as well as RF guns
  • Utilize basic interpersonal, phone and radio skills to communicate with others
  • Work in various climatic conditions 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and interpret standard work documents and production schedules
  • Knowledge of and adherence to safety policies, procedures, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Understanding of 6S principles and ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Be able to read and write
  • Be able to complete basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide)
  • Be able to complete basic computer skills
  • Be able to work while sitting and/or standing for long periods of time
  • Must be capable of light to heavy lifting (up to 35 lbs.) with or without assistance
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Be willing to work overtime as needed
  • Valid drivers' license
  • Regular and punctual daily attendance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • CDL
  • Forklift license (at least one-year experience)
  • One year of manufacturing experience
  • Experience working in a continuous improvement (CI) environment
