2nd Shift Production Manager
Job Summary
The 2nd Shift Production Manager at Hitachi, Ltd. will be responsible for overseeing all manufacturing operations and personnel during the second shift, ensuring production targets are met efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.
Job Responsibilities
* Lead, motivate, and manage a team of production supervisors and manufacturing associates on the 2nd shift.
* Plan, organize, and direct production activities to meet daily, weekly, and monthly output goals.
* Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
* Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency, reduce waste, and improve productivity.
* Collaborate with other shift managers and departments (e.g., maintenance, quality, supply chain) to ensure smooth operations and effective problem-solving.
* Oversee equipment maintenance and troubleshoot operational issues to minimize downtime.
* Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching and feedback, and support the professional development of team members.
* Ensure accurate production reporting and data analysis for performance tracking and decision-making.
* Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols and conducting regular safety inspections.
* Manage inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods on the 2nd shift as required.
Job Qualifications
* Degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
* Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Proven experience managing a team on a 2nd or 3rd shift.
* Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and continuous improvement tools.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions under pressure and solve complex production issues.
* Proficiency in using manufacturing execution systems (MES) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
* Solid understanding of health and safety regulations in a manufacturing setting.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
* Flexibility to work occasional extended hours or weekends as needed to meet production demands.
