Project Title:

Optimizing CMP Slurry Utilization: Mass Balance Analysis for Cost Efficiency

Project Objective:

Join our Process Engineering team to tackle one of the most critical challenges in semiconductor manufacturing—reducing slurry waste in Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP). This project focuses on performing a detailed mass balance analysis of slurry flow across CMP operations to: Identify waste points and quantify slurry losses throughout the process. Analyze cost-of-ownership (CoO) gaps and propose actionable improvements. Develop data-driven insights to optimize slurry usage without compromising wafer quality. Collaborate with engineers and leverage real fab data to recommend sustainable and cost-effective solutions.

Project Outcome:

This internship offers hands-on exposure to advanced CMP processes, cost modeling, and continuous improvement methodologies—ideal for students passionate about semiconductor manufacturing, process optimization, and sustainability.

Essential Responsibilities:

  •  Perform a comprehensive mass balance analysis of slurry consumption in CMP processes.

  • Identify key waste contributors and quantify their impact on overall slurry usage.

  • Propose cost-of-ownership improvement strategies based on data-driven findings.

  • Develop a report and presentation summarizing insights and recommendations for implementation.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements, and programs.

Required Qualifications:

Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or any other related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have an open mind, ready to learn

  • Project Management skills

  • Ability to coordinate with different people

*This application is for students undertaking a 20-24 week credit-bearing internship from June 2026 onwards.

*Please indicate your internship period clearly in your CV/Resume/Cover Letter*
