Seeking a Facilities Engineer with gas plant experience to support a Hilcorp Energy Asset that includes gas plant and upstream production operations The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in a broad range of oil and gas applications including compression, treating, dehydration, wellsite facilities, gathering systems, gas processing, tank batteries, saltwater disposal, closed-vent systems, and measurement. Support ongoing operations by identifying bottlenecks and employing engineering principles to identify efficiency, throughput, and cost improvements. Serve as Project Manager on larger projects to manage project phases from concept through execution. Engage and manage outside engineering support as needed to support overall objectives. Responsible for providing process safety engineering expertise in support of the Hilcorp facilities in accordance with federal and state regulations.
  • Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Identify and develop recommendations for initiatives and projects to optimize production, improve reliability, reduce costs, and prevent future problems. 
  • Employ engineering expertise to troubleshoot complex operational problems and develop solutions.
  • Perform process, compressor performance, and gathering system hydraulic modeling in support of assigned projects and facility optimization.
  • Assist in the development of company standards and design guidelines in accordance with good engineering practice and applicable codes and standards.
  • Provide engineering support for environmental compliance such as closed vent system designs. 
  • Capable of demonstrating effective people skills to interact with partners, service providers, peers and support staff and field and wellsite personnel. 
  • Must be willing and capable of effectively soliciting ideas from all people that are involved in the project to maintain a high degree of efficiency and “ownership” to meet the goals of the projects and the company. 
  • Supervise and approve facility modifications, installation, decommissioning, and other related work as well as monitoring costs. 
  • Engage and manage outside facilities engineering support (consultants and/or Engineering firms) on an as-needed basis, as agreed with the Asset Team Manager. 
  • Ensure alignment with Hilcorp policies and practices and applicable codes, recommended practices, and all government regulations.

  • Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.
  • Willing and able to travel to field locations on a regular basis and as needed to support assigned projects and initiatives.
  • Provide visible leadership and direction in process safety, both in the office and in the field.  Demonstrate clear examples of adherence to the company values of Integrity, Urgency, Innovation, Ownership, and Alignment, especially within the context of the process safety discipline.
  • Responsible authority for process safety programs, policies, and procedures.  Ensures that applicable process safety programs are managed according to regulatory requirements and company expectations.
  • Provide interpretation of federal and state regulations related to OSHA’s Process Safety Management Standard and EPA’s Risk Management Program requirements. Performs Applicability Determinations, boundary determinations, and threshold quantity calculations.
  • Maintain HEC L48 Risk Management Plan submissions on EPA’s CDX Website, serves as Preparer and Certifying Official. 
  • Implement the PHA element of PSM, including managing the revalidation schedule, defining the PHA methodology and Terms of Reference, facilitating, and working with operations and others to complete recommendation resolution.
  • Perform and lead engineering to address PHA and PSM Audit action items.
  • Perform engineering in support of Process Safety Management such as relief valve sizing, relief and flare system studies, inventory calculations, etc.  Be a technical resource for process safety related concerns. 
  • Support Asset Teams with implementation of the Technical Management of Change (MOC) element. Acts as primary owner of MOC tool and process.
  • Conducts internal Compliance Audits and oversees external Process Safety audits as needed.  Manages identified gaps, findings, and recommendations to closure.

Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years minimum experience process or mechanical engineering, or comparable field. 
  • Proficiency in the use and application of the following software:
  • Preferred: Sharepoint, PHAPro, PHAST

  • The successful candidate will demonstrate that s/he can take ownership of the job responsibilities and hold themselves accountable for their successful completion.
  • Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).
  • This position requires travel (up to 25%) to field facilities and other offices, as well as periodic work in outdoor and industrial facility environments, to validate field conditions and establish and maintain good working rapport with operations personnel.

  • Education Requirements:

  • Required:  Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year university or college.
