RBC Global Asset Management - Adviser Channel Sales Analyst

What is the opportunity?

As a member of the Sales Technology & Analytics (ST&A) team, the primary purpose of the role is to provide support to the Advisor Channel Sales (ACS) Management Team, a national team of wholesalers, and inside business development managers whose mandate is to promote and support the sale of RBC Global Asset Management mutual funds to Canadian Investment Advisors.

What will you do?

  • Sort through the daily sales alerts, identifying uncategorized transactions and following a multi-step search process to attach rep codes to their appropriate investment advisor. A metrics report will be completed at the end of each month to record progress.

  • A focus is placed on advisor prospecting. The student will complete a variety of routine tasks, utilizing tools such as Excel and SQL, to find and communicate new advisors to the national sales team as well as produce reports analyzing prospecting progress.

  • Students are strongly encouraged to create new tools to improve efficiencies in existing processes. Students are also encouraged to go beyond existing processes and create entirely new reporting processes and data analytics if an opportunity to do so is found.

  • Run and format a variety of standard and ad hoc reports from the CRM system to support the Relationship Liaison Team and the ACS Management Team.

  • Participate in event planning and pre-event reporting for ACS events and conferences.

  • Lead “data hygiene” effort in on our CRM system to ensure accurate quality data.

  • A focus is also placed on tracking the success of various sales initiatives. The students will create Excel reports that analyze the progress of our sales initiatives and the net benefits.

  • As the nature of the ST&A team involves constantly working on ways to improve the way business is done, there are various opportunities for students to get involved in unique projects, such as the integration of new software.

  • Administrative tasks as required.

What do you need to succeed?

Technical

  • Excellent computer literacy, particularly with the Microsoft Office Suite, and an ability to learn new programs (i.e. Salesforce, Tableau, SharePoint).

  • Specific to Microsoft Excel skills, candidates must have the ability and knowledge to:

  • Create and update pivot tables.

  • Manipulate, organize and retrieve data through the use of formulas and logic functions (particularly vlookups).

  • Utilize the 'Sort' and 'Filter' functions to efficiently organize large files of data.

  • Create and manipulate macros to improve the efficiency of reporting.

  • Format data appropriately into list, chart, or graph forms.

  • Knowledge of VBA & SQL is an asset although not required (Nice to have).

Financial

  • Basic knowledge of the Canadian Securities Industry and regulatory environment.

  • An understanding of the fundamental types of mutual funds and their structures. (Nice to have)

  • An interest in Investment Management.

Soft

  • Ability to quickly solve a problem while analyzing and interpreting data.

  • Keen attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Comfortable working both independently and as a part of a group.

  • Excellent time management skills and experience in multi-tasking.

  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, under various time restrictions.

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date; or 

  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating immediately after the work term), you must require the full work term as a mandatory component in order to graduate successfully
