What is the opportunity?
Are you a curious and adaptable student, eager to learn new skills, work with diverse teams, and take on challenges in a dynamic environment? Join Personal & Commercial Operations (PCO) and be part of the national team that enables operations across RBC in Canada. Our student placements offer hands-on experience and meaningful work while contributing to initiatives that improve efficiency, strengthen controls, and enhance the client experience.
Personal Banking Operations (PBO) manages end-to-end retail product operations across banking, lending, mortgages, investments, and loyalty products to support personalized client experiences and branch operations. Students will assist with processing activities, account maintenance, documentation, and client or branch-initiated requests across a range of personal banking products. This placement develops operational accuracy, product knowledge, and process-execution skills within a high-volume environment.
Potential Placements - PBO Centre Teams:
- Automotive Finance Fulfillment - Supports RBC’s dealership network by funding vehicle loans for new and used purchases. The team provides loan payout information when clients pay off or trade in their vehicles, ensuring seamless financing experiences for both clients and dealer partners.
- Personal Banking & Investments - Facilitates clients' transitions through the purchase, consolidation, and transfer of registered and non-registered investments. The team ensures compliance with regulatory requirements for account openings and supports a broad range of banking transactions to help clients meet their financial goals.
- Home Equity Closing Center - Manages the end-to-end mortgage process, from the initiation of a home purchase or sale through final closing. The team also oversees mortgage refinancing, home line setup, and ongoing maintenance activities for mortgage and home line products.
- Mortgage Operations - Oversees the fulfillment and funding of client mortgages once approval has been granted for new purchases, switches from other institutions, or refinances. The team also prepares payout statements and manages the discharge of mortgages to support a smooth client journey.
- Lending Maintenance - Handles ongoing maintenance of existing personal lending accounts, including mortgages, loans, and lines of credit, ensuring accurate, efficient updates throughout the lending lifecycle.
- Cards & Loyalty Operations - Provides critical back-office support to internal partners and external financial institutions by resolving ATM chargebacks and managing card-related investigations. The team supports personal, business, and private banking clients with credit card reversals, account maintenance, and co-brand program inquiries.
- National Operations Effectiveness - Supports branches by managing content verification activities and coordinating the annual Safety Deposit Box (SDB) Project. The team works closely with branch staff to validate records, assist with client-related follow-ups, and ensure sensitive documents are handled securely and in compliance with operational standards. Students in this placement will rotate across branches, work on-site 5 days per week, and assist with both remote and in-person operational support.
