Overview/Summary:

KBRA (Kroll Bond Rating Agency Japan K.K.) is seeking a motivated intern to join our newly established Tokyo office for the summer of 2026—offering a rare opportunity to see firsthand how a global company expands and establishes a footprint in the Asia Pacific region. This is an ideal educational role for candidates with strong analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, and a long-term interest in developing expertise across financial markets. As part of a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment, the intern will shadow senior staff, learn the day-to-day routines that make the credit rating process possible, and engage in supportive activities across various departments. The role offers exposure to global credit perspectives and close engagement with senior staff across KBRA’s international offices. Proficiency in both Japanese and English is required.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Gain familiarity with financial statements and basic credit assessment techniques
  • Learn to maintain sales systems. entering contacts into Salesforce from business cards and conference attendee lists
  • Help maintain the research and rating report translation tracker as well as learn how to review translations for accuracy, review marketing materials in English and Japanese
  • Learn how to research new investors and issuers on Bloomberg to maintain target lists while compiling company backgrounds prior to meetings to help attendees
  • Experience generative AI tools such as ChatGPT for research, data insights, and general productivity

About You

Successful candidates will possess the following:

  • Strong academic background in finance, economics, mathematics, or related fields
  • 0-2 years of relevant college level classes
  • Strong interest in ratings, capital markets, fixed income, or credit risk
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills in both Japanese and English (business-level or higher)
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Experience applying quantitative skills with advanced capabilities in Excel
  • Familiarity with Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT for research, data insights, and general productivity is a plus
