2026 Summer Intern - Early Clinical Development - Clinical Operations

Department Summary

 

The mission of the Early Clinical Development (ECD) Clinical Operations group is to develop and drive expert operational strategies through high functioning teams to enable quality, data-driven decisions for Genentech Research & Early Development (gRED). We aspire to be cutting-edge leaders making innovative science a reality for our patients. 

This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on site.  

Key Responsibilities

  • The focus of Clinical Operations is to successfully manage clinical development programs and execute clinical trials while ensuring the safety of our patients and the integrity of our data.  

  • Our ambition is to increase the diversity of patients and countries involved in our studies and we aim to achieve this by developing and deepening internal and external partnerships.  

  • Deliver study team objectives and adhering to timelines, budgets and quality standards.

  • Oversee vendors and CROs to enable successful execution of the gRED portfolio.

  • Support and potentially lead department activities/team forums including gathering agenda items, capturing actions/decisions and recommending tools for communication and data capture.

  • Proactively identify and manage risks and opportunities by offering simple, innovative solutions.

  • Support the development of relationships with key stakeholders in the global Roche organization and with external partners such as sites and vendors.

  • Support the analysis and interpretation of epidemiology and landscaping data to identify opportunities to expand the global footprint for gRED clinical trials.

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 12 weeks, full time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May or June 2026.

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. 

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are

Required Education
You meet one of the following criteria:

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student).

Preferred Majors: Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Healthcare, Business, Communications or Business Development focus.


Required Skills:

  • Proficiency with managing and using software, dashboards and collaboration tools such as Google Workspace and Tableau.

  • Broad knowledge of the drug development life cycle and clinical trial methodology.

  • Skilled in creating and maintaining relationships with a customer-focused attitude.

  • Highly effective verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving and solutions-focused mindset.

  • Exceptional research and analytical skills.

  • Ability to distill complex information from multiple sources and draw meaningful conclusions and insights.

  • Effective team player.

  • Proactive and self-motivated.

  • Willingness to challenge established practices and concepts. 

  • Ability to drive and support change.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting. 
 

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of  California is $24.00 - $33.00 per hour.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
