Department Summary
 

Genentech’s Research and Early Development (gRED) Early Clinical Development (ECD) is responsible for crafting and implementing early development clinical strategies and plans to provide proof-of-concept data for safety, efficacy, and biomarker utility for gRED's new molecular entities. The Business Managers in the Chief of Staff Office serve as strategic thought partners, driving short-term and long-term business planning, strategy development, and execution.
 

This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.
 

The Opportunity

  • During this internship, you will have the opportunity to experience the role of a Business Manager.

  • Collaborating closely with the ECD Chief of Staff and other Business Managers, you will gain experience in strategic partnerships to drive business planning, strategy development, and execution.

    Key Responsibilities Include:
     

  • Data analysis, organization & presentation.

  • Project coordination and management.

  • Evaluating best practices and streamlining standard work processes.

  • Contributing to meetings and events (e.g. Town Halls, functional team meetings).
     

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 12-weeks full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May/June 2026.

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship. 

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.
     

Who You Are


Required Education
You meet one of the following criteria:

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student - undergraduate students with 2–3 years of coursework in business, operations, or a STEM-related field).
     

Preferred Majors: Business Administration, Business/Resource Management, Biological Science, Data Science, or related fields. 
 

Required Skills: 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Agile mindset to adapt to changing work demands.

  • Passion for learning with a willingness to adopt new tools/processes.

  • Enthusiasm for sharing colleagues' accomplishments.

  • Proficiency with Google Suite products.
     

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting. 
 

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $28.00 - $33.00 per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
