What is the Opportunity?

The Group Risk Management Balance Sheet & Liquidity Risk (GRM-BSLR) team serves as the second line of defense for enterprise-wide balance sheet and liquidity risk management. Within GRM-BSLR, the Enterprise Liquidity team provides oversight and support to ensure consistent identification, measurement, and management of liquidity risks across the organization.

As GRM-Liquidity Risk Intern, you will support oversight, governance and compliance of liquidity risk across RBC.

Your role involves understanding the complexity of managing risk across large portfolios of assets, liabilities and off-balance sheet instruments, at the RBC level and within individual business lines and legal entities.

You will help meeting regulatory expectations for liquidity risk and the oversight of liquidity risks at the Bank.

What will you do?

  • Assist to develop Liquidity risk policies, limits, and frameworks.  
  • Oversight and monitor Liquidity risks and associated controls
  • Monitor activities and exposures to ensure adherence to approved policies and limits
  • Prepare insightful analysis and commentary focusing on drivers of material changes in risk positions
  • Provide update to senior management on emerging risks and market/regulatory developments that impact liquidity and funding
  • Maintain awareness of regulatory developments and plan for compliance to future requirements related to liquidity risk
  • Provide liquidity-related advice to teams across the bank for liquidity risk related initiatives
  • Contribute to ad-hoc projects within GRM-BSLR as needed

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Motivated self-starter, able to pick up new concepts quickly
  • Teamwork, collaboration, and co-operation is a requirement
  • Understanding of financial markets, banking regulations, and the balance sheet structure of a bank
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Outstanding technology skills

Nice-to-have

  • Ideally completed co-op or work experience with exposure to the Financial Industry (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Please note: This posting is for a 4-months Summer 2026 Student placement with a start date of May 2026, and end date of August 2026. In order to be eligible for this 4-months Student position, you must either:

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date of August 2026 ; or
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in August 2026), you must require the full 4-months work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.
