2026 Intern, IT Application Security Architect

Role and Scope of Position:
This is an intern position where the primary role is to assist senior-level staff with the design, planning, and implementation of application security architecture and controls across enterprise and operational systems. The intern will support efforts to ensure applications are securely designed, developed, built, tested, and deployed in alignment with corporate security standards and industry best practices.
This role includes assisting with the operations of application security technologies and DevSecOps processes, including secure application design patterns, automated security testing, vulnerability management, and cloud-native security controls. The intern will have the opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to one or more activities listed below that are the normal day to day functions of the Application Security Team.

Essential Functions: 

  • Application security architecture reviews and secure design support

  • Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC) activities

  • Designing/Reviewing CI/CD pipelines to integrate security controls

  • Static and dynamic application security testing (SAST/DAST), software composition analysis (SCA), and application of secrets scanning technologies

  • Reviewing application and pipeline designs for security risks, misconfigurations, and control gaps

  • Supporting threat modeling and risk identification for new and existing applications

  • Documentation of secure development and CI/CD security standards and practices

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Education:  

  • Currently pursing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Assurance or a related technical field or equivalent experience             

Experience:      

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field

  • Basic programming and development skills and basic application design

  • Interest in pursuing information security

  • Interest in continuous improvement

  • Comfortable communicating at many levels

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.

  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

$137,730.00-$153,030.00
