Moderna is expanding its impact across Canada, anchoring in Toronto—Canada's largest city known for its vibrant biotech innovation—and in Laval, where our strategic partnership with the Canadian Government is revolutionizing pandemic preparedness and response capabilities. Our offices in Toronto focus on commercial operations, bringing our innovative mRNA products to the Canadian market, while in Laval, our upcoming state-of-the-art mRNA vaccine manufacturing facility will be a cornerstone in ensuring rapid access to vaccines, highlighting our commitment to local talent development and collaborative research. This 12- to 14-week internship offers a hands-on opportunity to join Moderna’s Canadian Communications team and work alongside strategic partners on high-impact initiatives that strengthen our corporate reputation and stakeholder trust in mRNA technology. Based in Toronto with a hybrid expectation of at least 70% in-office work, this role provides immersive exposure to internal and external communications within one of the most innovative biotech companies in the world. You’ll help deliver clear, strategic messaging that drives engagement across employees, government partners, and the public — gaining first-hand experience in media relations, content creation, employee engagement, and more. Here’s What You’ll Do:
Your key responsibilities will be:
Supporting the delivery of internal communications initiatives such as town halls, intranet updates, and cultural engagement activities across Moderna's Toronto and Laval sites.
Assisting in the design and deployment of employee programs like Volunteer Week and Lunch & Learns.
Drafting content for Moderna’s corporate social media channels and contributing to media monitoring reports.
Shadowing and supporting on media relations activities, including preparing briefing materials, participating in agency meetings, and assisting with press release development.
Supporting the Government Affairs team with internal messaging coordination and stakeholder engagement materials.
Your responsibilities will also include:
Maintaining and organizing internal communications resources such as digital assets, content repositories, and media lists.
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure communications initiatives align with broader business objectives.
Helping coordinate thought leadership activities involving senior leadership.
Participating in team meetings and strategic planning sessions.
Taking on other communications-related duties as assigned to support team priorities.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications):
Current enrollment in 3rd or 4th year of an undergraduate program, or in a graduate certificate or Master’s program related to Media and Communications, Public Relations, or a closely related field.
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications):
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create engaging content tailored for different audiences.
Proactive, self-starter mindset with the proven ability to learn quickly, work independently and take ownership of tasks.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and consistency in communication materials and project execution.
Enthusiasm for media strategy and digital communication trends, with hands-on experience managing content creation a plus.
Interest in corporate communications within the healthcare sector, with a desire to learn about the healthcare industry and Moderna’s innovative mRNA technology.
Experience collaborating in team environments, demonstrating adaptability and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with digital tools and platforms, including Microsoft 365 (Word, PowerPoint), collaboration tools (Teams); experience managing social channels and intranet systems a plus
Fluency in French a plus
