The Advanced Airframes Department within Raytheon Hardware Engineering provides Mechanical Engineering support to develop solutions for products across the Raytheon portfolio. Our core mechanical engineering responsibilities include requirements / conceptual development, design, integration, and test support. We partner with several Mechanical Product Team departments to provide full system solutions.

The Advanced Airframes Department is currently hiring a Mechanical Engineer I that will be located on site in Tucson, Arizona. Some travel may be required to meet and work with vendors and to support hardware procurement, testing, and other activities as needed.

What You Will Do

  • Work with multi-disciplinary engineers to propose, design, integrate and test mechanical hardware.
  • Contribute to one or more contract-funded or independent research efforts, each of which is in a different phase of development (proposal, design, or integration/test).
  • Communicate with cross-disciplined, engineering team members and suppliers to analyze, model, and document the design and its capabilities and compliance to requirements.
  • Work under supervision to act as the responsible engineer for mechanical hardware, to include supplier oversight and material dispositions.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Experience with CAD software with an emphasis in mechanical design.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for technical analysis, data sorting / plotting, and technical documentation.

Qualifications We Value

  • Experience using Creo CAD software, with an emphasis in mechanical design.
  • Basic understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Demonstrated collaboration with cross-disciplined teams.
  • Experience with hardware fabrication and 3D prototyping.
  • Experience leading a small team of peers.
  • Experience presenting to a group of peers and/or to a project manager / customer.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions.

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
