Job Description

The Enterprise Liquidity Parameters Team within RBC’s Corporate Treasury leads liquidity risk modeling efforts to optimize balance sheet positioning, ensuring resilience in both normal and stress scenarios. Our mission is to set new standards for stakeholders' experiences and operational excellence while driving the Bank’s transformation into a simpler, faster, and more innovative organization.

This internship provides a unique opportunity to work on impactful Corporate Treasury initiatives in a dynamic and forward-thinking environment. The successful candidate will play a vital role in advancing innovation within our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop automated solutions to monitor and assess High-Quality Liquid Assets (HQLA), providing management with real-time visibility into concentration risks and enabling data-driven decision-making to optimize strategies in response to market dynamics.
  • Enhance and automate monitoring tools for liquidity risk models by streamlining data extraction, improving efficiency, and making the monitoring process more effective and reliable.
  • Design and deliver a comprehensive suite of dashboards to provide Corporate Treasury with enhanced insights into evolving risks across key business areas, supporting proactive risk management and strategic planning.
  • Explore and experiment with analytical and AI tools available within RBC, applying them to relevant team use cases to advance capabilities, enhance efficiency, and drive value creation

Qualifications:

Education and Background

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Familiarity with or coursework in Data Analytics.

Technical skills

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or JavaScript.
  • Strong data visualization skills using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Matplotlib.
  • Experience working with structured and unstructured data

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills

  • Ability to analyze complex datasets and draw actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated skill in creating models and frameworks for decision-making and process optimization.
  • Knowledge of financial concepts, particularly liquidity and funding risk, would be an asset
  • Ability to connect the dots, understand the big picture, and translate complex ideas into actionable strategies.

Communication and Collaboration Skills 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting insights and recommendations to diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
