Job Title: 2026-2028 Post-doctoral Fellow - Neuroprotection and Resilience
Location: Cambridge, MA
About the Job
Join the engine of Sanofi’s mission — where deep immunoscience meets bold, AI-powered research. In R&D, you’ll drive breakthroughs that could turn the impossible into possible for millions.
Join our team in Sanofi neurology drug discovery research as a postdoctoral scientist and contribute to discovering life-changing therapies for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and ALS. This 2-3 year position offers hands-on experience in translational neuroscience, combining cutting-edge neuronal physiology techniques with therapeutic development in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in neuroscience, neurodegeneration, neuroimmunology, or a related field, with demonstrated expertise in neuronal health assessment and primary neuronal or iPSC cell culture. Experience with gene therapy/silencing techniques and bioanalytical assays is highly valued. You will work at the intersection of discovery and drug development, with opportunities to publish in high-impact journals, present at scientific conferences, and build a strong foundation for your career in translational research.
About Sanofi:
We’re an R&D-driven, AI-powered biopharma company committed to improving people’s lives and delivering compelling growth. Our deep understanding of the immune system – and innovative pipeline – enables us to invent medicines and vaccines that treat and protect millions of people around the world. Together, we chase the miracles of science to improve people’s lives.
Main Responsibilities:
Develop and apply tools to assess neuronal health, including neuronal activity, neurite outgrowth, dendritic spine morphology, and synaptic density using high-content imaging in primary or iPSC-derived neurons.
Validate in vivo mouse models of neurodegeneration to support proof-of-concept studies.
Measure compound exposure and neuroinflammatory pathway changes in the CNS using ELISA and related bioanalytical approaches.
Design and execute experiments, analyze data, and communicate findings at internal and external meetings and conferences.
Publish research findings in high-impact, peer-reviewed scientific journals as first author and collaborative contributor.
Collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams within the Neuroscience Therapeutic Area, Research Platforms, and with external partners.
About You
Basic Qualifications:
Must have a PhD in neuroscience, neurodegeneration, neuroimmunology, or related discipline with a track record of peer-reviewed publications.
Expertise in neuronal health assessment and synaptic density evaluation using high-content imaging and bioanalytical assays (e.g., ELISA) in primary neuronal and/or iPSC-derived cultures.
Must be able to relocate to the office location and work 40hrs/week, Monday-Friday, for the full duration of the postdoc fellowship
Must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S. and not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually require future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques, including gene silencing or gene therapy approaches.
Experience with in vivo rodent models of neurodegeneration.
Experience with in vitro electrophysiological or calcium imaging recordings preferred.
Highly organized and collaborative with strong analytical and communication skills.
Ability to effectively engage with cross-functional teams and communicate research progress to diverse scientific audiences.
