MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Completion of one year of specialty radiology-training program.
2. Must possess Radiological Technologist license through the West Virginia Board of Radiologic Technologists within 12 months of hire.
3. Registered in Radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 12 months of hire. CPR certification.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Receives phone calls, answers general questions and greets all visitors, patients and hospital staff. Maintains professional, helpful, and knowledgeable atmosphere.
2. Generates daily schedule for all modalities. Sorts all order requisitions and scripts.
3. Verifies patients order and tracks patients in RIS system.
4. Orders isotope materials during off hours for add on Nuclear Medicine scans.
5. Burns CD’s for emergent or transferring In-patients.
6. Checks critical results and communicates as necessary.
7. Prepares patient for exam, explains procedure prior to testing and answers questions related to exam.
8. Positions patients properly according to type of radiological examination and provides radiation protection when appropriate. Obtains images under direct supervision of registered technologist, while following ALARA.
9. Responsible for reporting any equipment not in proper working condition to the supervisor so service call can be placed.
10. Maintains work area and radiographic equipment in clean and orderly condition to prevent spread of infection.
11. Properly assesses patient information in RIS. Charges, changes, or adds information as necessary to keep records accurate. Ensures all completed images are on PACS.
12. Demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary to provide care and education appropriate to the age of patients served.
13. May remove oxygen tubing from wall to tank, vice, versa, and adjust flow meter as ordered by physician.

1. Differentiate various shades of gray as depicted on a black and white television monitor or photograph.
2. Stand and walk for prolonged periods of time. Wear a lead apron weighing approximately 8 to 15 pounds for extended periods of time. Lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds of weight. Carry items of up to 20 pounds.

1. Ability to interact positively with patients, families, and members of the Health Care Team.
2. Ability to prioritize and deal with a variety of situations simultaneously.
3. Ability to improvise with altered positioning techniques, manipulation of the equipment, and accessory devices when routine positioning is compromised due to patient’s condition, age, or ability.
