About the role we are hiring a Senior Manager, Engineering — Quality to lead and scale quality engineering for athena Collector within Core Products. You will own quality strategy, governance, and delivery for critical Collector workflows, evangelize a quality-first culture across engineering and product and manage local and remote quality teams. This role will define the roadmap for test automation (including AI-assisted automation), gating and release controls, and partner with engineering and product to raise testability, reliability, and operational readiness of the product.
Team summary:
athenaCollector is a cloud-native, AI-enabled Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) platform that streamlines the end-to-end claims lifecycle and downstream revenue operations for provider customers. Built on a modern, highly scalable stack, the platform combines a rules-driven claims engine to automate triage, reduce denials, and improve first-pass acceptance. athenaCollector provides sophisticated AR follow-up workflows, remittance processing, and payment posting—automatically reconciling remittances, routing exceptions, and surfacing prioritized worklists so teams can focus on high-value recovery. With real-time, explainable analytics and rigorous healthcare security and compliance controls, athenaCollector helps providers accelerate reimbursements, maximize revenue, and concentrate on patient care.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
· Define and own the quality engineering strategy, roadmap, governance and gating criteria for athenaCollector.
· Be an internal evangelist for quality — influence engineering culture and enable teams through tooling, training and playbooks.
· Establish test architecture and standards: test pyramid, CI/CD integration and test data practices.
· Design and deliver automated test suites for end-to-end, API, integration, and UI layers, and set standards for maintainability and observability.
· Drive adoption of quality best practices across teams: testability, shift-left testing, risk-based testing, code-review for tests, and release gating.
· Lead initiatives to modernize automation using AI/ML (e.g., AI-assisted test generation, flaky test detection, smart test selection) to increase coverage and reduce cycle time.
· Define QA governance: release criteria, risk assessments, defect SLAs, and quality metrics/KPIs.
· Partner with Product, Engineering, Security and Operation teams to triage production issues, analyse root causes, and implement systemic fixes.
· Manage local/distributed team of QA engineers and manual testers — set goals, measure outcomes, and ensure alignment to product objectives.
Additional Job Responsibilities:
· Practical experience applying AI/ML to testing (test generation, smart selection, anomaly detection, flaky test triage).
· Experience in revenue cycle management, healthcare domain knowledge or regulated environments.
· Familiarity with observability tooling (e.g., Datadog, Splunk) and chaos or resilience testing approaches.
· Knowledge of test data management and security/compliance considerations in healthcare.
Expected Education & Experience (Required):
· 12+ years in software quality/QA roles with hands-on experience across automation, system testing, and performance testing.
· 3+ years managing and scaling local and remote QA teams; track record of hiring, mentoring and developing technical leaders.
· Proven ability to define and execute quality strategy, governance and test architecture for complex, customer-impacting systems.
· Hands-on experience writing and maintaining automated tests across API and modern web UI stacks.
· Experience with test automation tooling and frameworks (Selenium, Selenium Grid, Cucumber or equivalent) and modern JS test frameworks.
· Familiarity with backend/service testing and relevant languages/frameworks (Java, JavaScript/React ecosystem; knowledge of Perl is a plus).
· Cloud experience (AWS) and comfort with CI/CD pipelines, containerized test environments, and test infrastructure.
· Strong understanding of Unix/Linux, SQL databases, logging/monitoring and production debugging practices.
· Experience with performance and scalability testing and capacity to incorporate performance gating into release criteria.
· Excellent communicator who can persuade and build trust across functional partners while ensuring accountability for results.
