Who are we hiring?

The Manager, Event Production is responsible for the successful advancement and completion of their assigned events across the Madison Square Garden venues, including but not limited to, The Madison Square Garden Arena & Infosys Theater.

The Manager, Event Production will manage the operational execution of a wide range of events such as concerts, special entertainment events, family shows and sporting events.  The manager will act as the liaison between client and all venue departments, partners, and stakeholders to maximize operational efficiency through efficient collaboration and communication The role will work with union & non-union labor workforce.  The position exists within an environment that is a 24 hour/7 days a week operation due to the numerous daily and nightly events across live entertainment.

 What will you do?

  • Responsible for administering all event planning with the client and venue stakeholders throughout the entire event process for assigned events, from initial advancement to being on-site for load-in through load out.
  • Responsible for administering all event planning with the client and venue departments including but not limited to, staging, lighting and sound, client seating, and client staffing requirements.
  • Will generate and maintain operational budgets for assigned events. Will provide timely updates throughout the event process through constant analysis and attention to detail.
  • Track costs against budget for settlement with internal and external clients.
  • Produce AutoCAD drawings to illustrate seating maps to be used for the purpose of on sales across the event spectrum. These drawings build the foundation for the event and will be shared with various stakeholders across the MSG enterprises, including but not limited to Box Office, Finance, Building Operations & Booking.
  • Work with outside agencies to ensure work rules, jurisdictions, codes, and policies are maintained.
  • Understand and communicate with all parties the work rules for union & non-union labor teams; will assign and direct union and non-union labor associated with the daily operation of event.
  • Troubleshoot event day issues efficiently and swiftly and be highly responsive to emergencies in a fast paced, time sensitive environment.
  • Manage and oversee the full event lifecycle for assigned events, from load-in and on-site operations through event-day activities to the complete load-out of all equipment.
  • Evaluate quality of client and guest experience through observation and responding to feedback.
  • Represent MSG Production at Weekly Staff and/or Productions Meetings.
  • Assist in training new prodution staff on the production process and work closely with team members assigned to ancillary events.

What do you need to succeed?

  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in live event production management, with direct responsibility for leading, supervising, and directing cross-functional teams across diverse operational areas in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • Candidates who have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours of college-level coursework (representing 2 years), or have shown similar self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc. are preferred. Educational requirements may differ from job to job based on the role.
  • Must have technical knowledge of production specific items including but not limited to rigging and engineering review, power provisions, industry standard safety protocols, union regulations and processes specific to I.A.T.S.E, as well as I.B.E.W & Theatrical Teamsters.
  • AutoCAD working knowledge.
  • Knowledge and understanding of general building codes & fire safety specific to each MSG venue
  • A general knowledge of sports, specifically hockey and basketball, and a willingness to learn how these MSG enterprises coexist with live entertainment.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks with both financial and operational implications across departments and venues in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Experience supervising and working with union & non-union Crews; experience reading CBA’s a plus.
  • Experience creating and maintaining event budgets and preparing financial information for event settlements.
  • Strong organizational skills, time management skills, and exceptional attention to detail; must be able to successfully multi-task and collaborate in an energetic and time-sensitive environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess problem solving, reasoning, motivational, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independent when necessary, using sound business judgement.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts in time sensitive manner.

  • Computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

Special Requirements:

  • Must be able to work within an environment with loud noises and everchanging visuals.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and move about the venue throughout the duration of the shift; Constant motion is often required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays in a 24 X 7 environment.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull up to 25 pounds.

Pay Range
$83,000$130,000 USD
