The Director, Clinical and Sales Learning, Respiratory & Immunology (R&I/V&I) leads the end-to-end learning strategy and execution for commercial field teams across the R&I portfolio. This role is accountable for designing high-impact curricula that elevate disease-state expertise, product knowledge, selling excellence, and customer engagement. The Director partners cross-functionally to align learning outcomes with brand objectives, field performance goals, and regulatory standards, ensuring readiness for launches, lifecycle management, and evolving market needs. Reporting to the Head of Enterprise Learning & Capabilities Development, this position plays a pivotal leadership role within Innovation & Business Excellence, shaping how field teams translate science into meaningful impact for patients. Accountabilities  

  • Lead the multi-year R&I learning strategy covering onboarding, advanced capability building, launch readiness, and continuous development for sales teams, with clear governance, success metrics, and continuous improvement.  

  • Own and evolve key programs such as Sales Excellence Academy and Insights 360 in partnership with brand and sales teams, ensuring alignment with market access and enterprise capability uplift initiatives.  

  • Design and oversee competency-based curricula that integrate clinical evidence, guidelines, and competitive insights with modern sales methodologies, customer engagement skills, and digital fluency.  

  • Determine and manage the optimal mix of learning modalities, including instructor-led training, digital learning, virtual sessions, simulations, and microlearning.  

  • Ensure scientific accuracy and medical/legal/regulatory compliance of all disease and product training content, embedding robust assessment strategies to verify knowledge transfer and application.  

  • Lead learning workstreams for R&I launches from capability gap analysis through content development, enablement assets, certification pathways, and field coaching plans.  

  • Coordinate cross-functional launch initiatives and integrated learning timelines to drive consistent field readiness nationwide.  

  • Partner with Sales Leadership to align learning with selling competencies, objection handling, and customer value messaging, using data and insights to prioritize interventions and close capability gaps.  

  • Build strong partnerships with Marketing, Sales leadership, Compliance, Innovation and Business Excellence teams to secure alignment, compliance, and adoption of learning solutions.  

  • Drive adoption of digital learning platforms and mobile-first content, defining KPIs such as knowledge scores, certification rates, field productivity, and time-to-readiness to optimize programs.  

  • Manage structured certification frameworks and field assessments tied to clinical acumen, compliant promotion, and customer engagement capabilities.  

  • Oversee external vendors and agencies for content development, technology solutions, and events; own budget planning, resource allocation, and contract management to deliver on-time, high-quality programs.  

  • Lead change management and communication plans for learning initiatives, setting clear expectations for leaders and field teams while enabling managers to coach effectively.  

  • Establish feedback loops to continuously refine learning solutions based on field input, performance data, and evolving market dynamics.  

  • Partner with Enterprise Learning Strategic Alignment & Operations and Compliance to embed approval workflows and standards into learning and certification processes, proactively managing risk.

Essential Skills/Experience  

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • 7+ years of combined experience in learning, field training, medical education, field sales, marketing, market access, human resources and/or or commercial excellence experiences

  • Clinical proficiency in R&I disease states (e.g., asthma, COPD, severe asthma/Type 2 inflammation, IL pathway targets, rare immunologic conditions) and current treatment paradigms. 

  • Demonstrated ability to lead through or build competency-based curricula and deploy at scale in regulated environments. 

  • Proven success with product launch training, sales capability building, and certifications. 

  • Familiarity with MLR review, promotional standards, and compliant field engagement. 

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Advanced degree in life sciences, education, or business preferred (e.g., PharmD, PhD, ED, MS, MBA)

  • Leadership of teams and complex programs preferred.

  • Direct experience in Respiratory and/or Immunology therapeutic areas preferred. 

  • Awareness of LMS/LXP platforms, content authoring tools, virtual learning technologies, and analytics dashboards.   Strategic thinking, stakeholder influence, cross-functional collaboration, program management, vendor oversight, and excellent communication. Ability to translate complex science into practical learning that drives behavior change.
