Your Opportunity

Join Mission Australia’s Canterbury Bankstown Youth Service (CBYS), where we support young people and young families aged 16–25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. CBYS offers a range of support services and accommodation options tailored to meet clients at any stage of need.

In this hands-on role, you’ll provide welfare support to clients living in our crisis accommodation refuge, helping them build life skills, access services, and work toward stability and independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial assessments and induct clients into the service.
  • Support clients in achieving their goals alongside case managers.
  • Provide practical day-to-day support and supervision to ensure client safety.
  • Assist with appointments, challenging interactions, and general service operations (e.g. cooking, cleaning, maintenance).
  • Maintain accurate case files and contribute to reports.
  • Perform administrative duties to support efficient service delivery.

Requirements for Success

  • Certificate or Diploma in Community Services (Youth Work) or related field.
  • Understanding of youth homelessness and at-risk populations.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Senior First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
  • Current NSW Driver’s Licence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
