Your Opportunity

As a Youth Program and Event Facilitator with Canterbury Bankstown Youth Service (CBYS), you will play a vital role in supporting young people aged 16–25 and young families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. CBYS provides a range of services, including accommodation, counselling, case management, and education program support, delivered both on-site and through outreach. This is an on-site position that requires flexibility and the ability to pivot quickly to meet the evolving needs of young people facing complex challenges. You will design and deliver programs that build independent living skills, job readiness, and community engagement, while fostering motivation and participation in a safe and inclusive environment.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Design, facilitate, and deliver youth programs focused on independent living skills, job preparedness, health, and wellbeing.
  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver community events that promote youth engagement and skill development.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, community organisations, and other stakeholders to support program delivery and referrals.
  • Provide culturally responsive education sessions and adapt programs to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Manage administrative tasks, including data entry, case notes, reports, and risk assessments in line with compliance requirements.
  • Network and promote CBYS programs through outreach to schools, community centres, and partner organisations.
  • Collaborate internally and externally to ensure integrated service delivery and positive outcomes for young people.

Requirements for Success

  • Relevant degree with at least 1 year of experience; or Associate Diploma with relevant experience; or substantial experience with appropriate qualifications. Preference for Diploma of Youth Work or Community Services.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering and running programs for young people, including event coordination.
  • Experience delivering programs, workshops or group training for young people, ideally including those experiencing homelessness or complex barriers.
  • Strong ability to engage and motivate young people, with excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital tools for program delivery and reporting.
  • Good local knowledge and established community connections, with proven networking and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to plan, organise, and manage competing priorities while maintaining compliance and quality standards.
  • Full driver licence with no restrictions.

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.

Your Benefits

To ensure our employees feel valued, empowered, and celebrated, we provide a range of employee benefits including:

  • Rewarding work – every day you know you’re making a real difference
  • Not-for-profit salary packaging, reducing your tax (details via AccessPay)
