Job Description:
In order to support the Mass Properties Operations team, Airbus Operations is looking for a
You are a full time student, looking for a working student position and want to get to know the work of Airbus? Then apply now! We look forward to you supporting us in the Mass Properties Operations team as a working student (d/f/m) with approx. 18 hours a week!
Location: Hamburg - Finkenwerder
Start: As soon as possible
Duration: 12 months
Our department is at the center of aircraft design, focusing on one of the most critical performance indicators: Aircraft Weight. We are the functional hub for all mass properties, directly influencing fuel efficiency, payload, and operational range.
While our core team is based locally, we operate in a highly transnational environment. You'll collaborate with stakeholders across the entire aircraft lifecycle—from initial Development and Production to In-Service support, Marketing, and client Customization. If you want to see how complex engineering data impacts business decisions, this is the place to be.
This role is all about taming complexity. You will be working with a huge amount of technical data spanning every part of the aircraft, including Structure, Mechanical System Installations, Electrical System Installations, and Cabin components up to overall A/C.
Your primary mission is to empower the team by handling this data. This isn't just analysis; you will be actively developing new tools and improving existing databases to make our work more efficient. Your impact will be immediate: the tools you build will directly help our engineers manage complex A/C configurations and deliver critical insights to the wider program.
You will receive a collectively agreed salary of at least €18.53 per hour, depending on the job. There are also special payments such as vacation pay.
Working students are students who are enrolled at a University or some other institution of higher education, and who are employed in a reasonably long, fixed-term position parallel to their studies. This position must not be confused with an internship or with the possibility of writing a final thesis.
This employment usually takes place directly on the company's premises. A working student's main focus remains on their studies, which is why, during term-time, working students are not allowed to work more than 20 hours per week.
Working students therefore usually work near their place of study, so as to conveniently combine studying and employment.
You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry. Experience the special flair of Hamburg in your spare time where vibrant cosmopolitan culture meets nautic legacy.
Are you wondering how you actually get from university to Airbus? Your working student position is at the Finkenwerder plant and you can take the ferry from Teufelsbrück to the Airbus ferry terminal and back to the university in the morning and at noon. Alternatively, you can take the ferry to Finkenwerder and then ride your bike for about another 15 minutes to the main entrance.
Attractive salary and work-life balance with an 18-hour week (flexitime).
Mobile working after agreement with the department.
International environment with the opportunity to network globally.
Work with modern/diversified technologies.
At Airbus, we see you as a valuable team member and you are not hired to brew coffee, instead you are in close contact with the interfaces and are part of our weekly team meetings.
Opportunity to participate in the Generation Airbus Community to expand your own network.
Observe and understand Mass Properties activities to enable digitalisation projects
Translate business needs into requirements and user stories for development
Develop tools to support operational activities
Enrolled full-time student (d/f/m) in the area of Computer Science, Data Science, Aerospace Engineering (with a strong IT focus), or a related technical discipline
Fluent in English, German would be a plus.
Strong Coding Skills: You must be proficient in scripting or programming (e.g., Python, VBA, Java, or similar) to build and automate tools.
Database Management: You need solid experience with databank management (e.g., SQL, MS Access, or understanding relational database concepts).
Quick Understanding: You can rapidly grasp complex technical needs and requirements from the team.
Good Communication: You are able to listen, ask the right questions, and clearly explain your data-driven solutions to engineers.
Proactive Mindset: You enjoy finding solutions and are motivated to build tools that make a real difference.
