Position Purpose: The Account Executive (AE) is responsible for driving revenue growth and managing designated wholesale accounts. This role emphasizes building long-term partnerships, achieving sales goals, and supporting merchandising strategies. The AE acts as a strategic advisor, using data and market insights to grow the business while maintaining alignment with the L.L.Bean brand. Through a deep understanding of partner needs and L.L.Bean’s product line, will help guide the assortment, ordering and in-season reaction processes. They will collaborate closely with internal teams and external clients, ensuring high levels of service and continuous improvement. The AE works under the guidance of a Senior or Account Manager. 

 

Roles/Responsibilities:

Account Management & Strategic Partnerships 

  • Serve as primary Account Executive for L.L.Bean wholesale accounts, building strong, long-term client relationships. 
  • Strategically partner with accounts to drive revenue, manage in-season performance, and negotiate end-of-season markdowns. 
  • Provide exceptional customer service and act as liaison between clients and internal teams (merchandising, finance, logistics, etc.). 
  • Lead account meetings, including strategy sessions, sell-ins, and contract negotiations. 

Sales Strategy & Performance Analysis 

  • Drive sales to meet or exceed volume targets through curated assortments, marketing plans, and operational initiatives. 
  • Analyze weekly sales, profitability, and stock data to optimize full-price sales and identify growth opportunities. 
  • Forecast monthly revenue and reproject sales based on trends; contribute to P&L planning. 

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Collaborate with Marketing, Finance, Inventory, and Logistics to align on business goals. 
  • Attend product development and merchandising meetings as a category expert. 
  • Coordinate with internal teams to align on seasonal strategies, ensuring product development, inventory planning, and marketing initiatives are synchronized to meet account goals. 

 

Operational Excellence & Reporting 

  • Ensure timely order writing and on-time inventory delivery; manage promotions, markdowns, and product exits. 
  • Deliver reports and presentations; contribute to corporate communications and continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Maintain brand standards across all channels and ensure visual merchandising aligns with company expectations.

Education Level: 4-Year Bachelors Degree
Years of Experience: 3+ years

Tools & Systems 

  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and NuOrder for reporting, planning, and presentation needs. 

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 3+ years of previous account executive experience in the apparel/outdoor market. 

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with customers to develop strong long-term relationships. 

  • Strong understanding of retail math and sales planning. 

  • Ability to work cross functionally and foster strong relationships. 

  • Excellent analytical skills 

  • Must be computer proficient including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

  • Must have the ability to travel ~25% of time based on business and account needs.
