About the Program
The Mental Health and Wellbeing Local Service is an integrated wellbeing and support service delivered through partnership in the Maroondah and Yarra Ranges Shires. Local Services provide clinical support, care, and wellbeing services to people aged 26+ experiencing mental health challenges, including people who require support for co-occurring substance use or addiction, 365 days per year when and where they need.
The service is community-led and co-designed by participants, supporters, and the local community. Partners include Wellways, Access Health and Community, Eastern Health and Oonah.
About this Opportunity
As a Wellbeing Navigator Peer, you’ll walk alongside people experiencing mental health and/or alcohol and other drug challenges, supporting them to find the care and connections that matter most to them.
Drawing on your own lived experience of recovery, you’ll use the Intentional Peer Support (IPS) Framework to create safe spaces built on mutuality, respect, and hope. You’ll help people navigate services, make informed choices, and lead their own recovery journeys, whether that’s through in-person, outreach, or telehealth support.
This is a designated lived experience position, and a rare opportunity to join a large, peer-led team where lived experience doesn’t just inform the work – it leads it.
To be successful in this role:
Personal experience of recovery and management of mental illness, trauma and/or substance use, accessing and navigating health carer services, including mental health services and a willingness to draw upon your experiences and recovery journey to inform your work.
Minimum qualification in Intentional Peer Support, SHARC Peer worker training, Certificate IV Mental Health Peer work, and/or other relevant qualification.
Experience in high volume operational environments
Current valid Driver’s License and the ability to undertake travel for the role
Current Working with Children Check and NDIS Workers Screening Check
Right to Work within Australia
Satisfactory National Police Records Check (less than 12 months old)
Willingness to complete NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
