Amentum is seeking a Welder in Oahu, Hawaii to support an upcoming contract opportunity.
Primary Responsibilities:
- The Welder will perform welding with a focus on repair, fabrication, alteration, and fabrication on a seafaring vessel.
- When welding work is not required the individual will perform deck work as directed, as well as preservation, cleaning, maintenance, fabrication, upgrade/expansion, and repair duties.
- Additional duties will include riding the vessel during all at-sea missions to lead all at-sea Company operations including performing deck and rigging tasks, cooking, cleaning, conducting rounds, standing watch, participating in firefighting operations, and performing emergency repairs.
Minimum Requirements:
- Active SECRET Security Clearance required. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a DOD Secret clearance.
- 10 years of relevant work experience or graduated from a technical school with eight years of relevant work experience. Relevant work experience should be shown in areas of at-sea vessel operations (deck, rigging and line handling tasks, cooking, cleaning, conducting rounds, standing watch, participating in firefighting operations, and performing emergency repairs), in-port operations (rigging, crane operation, forklift operation, man-lift operation), and maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, upgrades, fabrication, installation, operational and testing support of hill, mechanical and electrical (HM&E) systems similar to those found on seafaring vessels.
- Welder must be able to demonstrate vertical-up weld on 3/8” carbon steel (S-1 type such as DH-36) using weld process of choice, to be subjected to nondestructive examination (NDE) or destructive root bend and face bend test as per Section 5.4 “Test and evaluation of qualification test assemblies”, as described in Figure 14 of NAVSEA Technical Publication S9074-AQ-GIB-010/248 "Requirements for Welding and Brazing Procedure and Performance Qualification."
- Experience should be especially focused in the welding aspects of these systems, with some electrical.
- Experience in project management and planning and leading various aspects of design development.
- Training and certifications in firefighting, ship damage control, rigging, crane operation, forklift operation, man-lift operation, first aid, automatic external defibrillators, CPR, and sanitary food service preferred.
- Completion of US Coast Guard (USCG) Approved Basic Fire Fighting Course or Refresher within the past five (5) years (preferred) or complete within 30 days of employment.
- Completion of USCG Approved Able Bodied Seaman Course (preferred) or completion within 30 days of employment
- Completion a USCG Approved Advance Fire Fighting Course or Refresher within the last five (5) years (preferred) or completion within 30 days of employment.
Compensation:
The annual starting salary/ hourly rate for this position is between $40-$50 per hour. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
