Imagine diving into a world where magic meets marine life! As a Water Sciences Divemaster, you’ll play a key role in creating unforgettable experiences for Guests and ensuring the highest standards of safety and care at the Walt Disney World Resort.
In this role, you’ll do more than lead dives - you’ll be a vital part of Disney's Animals, Science and Environment team, working alongside passionate professionals to maintain the stunning 5.7-million-gallon aquarium at The Seas with Nemo & Friends, plus its surrounding side pools. From supporting the Epcot Animal Husbandry team as a safety diver to guiding Guests through the extraordinary DiveQuest tour, you’ll help bring Disney magic beneath the surface.
This is a full-time opportunity reporting to the Animal Programs Manager,
- Spend a significant portion of your day diving to maintain the aquarium and pools with tank maintenance and coral cleaning
- Provide support as the safety diver for any teams in the water, including animal care
- Assist with hands-on work involving manatees, including supporting safe movement and positioning during care activities
- Perform the role of Divemaster for the in-water portion of our DiveQuest Guest tour
- Implement skill evaluations for checkout dives for new divers and annual skill checks
- Provide topside support for all dive teams by setting up dive stations, pumps and hoses, and performing the task of being in charge for dives
- Maintain equipment inventory and the log book on dive equipment and non-diving equipment
- Act as the Lock Out diver in Guest presentations
- Scheduled to work 4, 10-hour shifts per week, including weekends and holidays as needed
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Comfortable working underwater for long periods of time
- Ability and willingness to work closely with large aquatic animals, including manatees, in a hands-on capacity
- Former experience performing dive equipment testing, dive rigs, deck whips, etc
- Previous facilitation and presentation experience
- Talent for developing partnerships and work with all team members in the organization
- Pass Disney's annual dive physical
- Consistently lift heavy equipment such as dive gear, up to 50lbs
- Proficiency in basic computer functions vital to operate in a Windows environment and other technologies
- Schedule availability to include weekends, variable shifts, and holidays
- Must have a documented Log Book
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience
- Divemaster Certification
