  • NON APPROPRIATED FUNDS POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: FITNESS SPECIALIST BUSINESS TITLE: WARR TECHNICIAN FLSA : Nonexempt JOB SERIES: 0601 PAY LEVEL: NF-02/03 This position¿s pay level is NF-02/03. At the entry level, the incumbent will perform substantially the same duties and responsibilities in the developmental capacity under closer supervision. The incumbent is required to successfully complete all training requirements, gain specialized experience and be recommended by the supervisor prior to advancement to the target grade level. SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Warrior Athlete Readiness and Resilience (WARR) Strength and Conditioning Technician delivers human performance programming to authorized patrons, including Active Duty service members, Retirees, Family Members, and Department of Defense (DoD) Civilian employees at Marine Corps installations and commands. This position directly supports Marine Corps Total Fitness initiatives. The incumbent assists WARR professional team members in providing a full range of services, including¿but not limited to¿performance assessments, measurements, evaluations, data entry, coaching support, and logistical setup and breakdown for WARR programming. Provides instruction and consultation on proper exercise techniques to individuals and groups participating in WARR human performance programs. Supports the implementation and maintenance of programming related to aerobic fitness, muscular strength, body composition, flexibility, and functional movement. Instructs patrons on equipment use, exercise techniques, and health and wellness concepts across all performance domains. Assists in coordinating and maintaining schedules for command-level WARR performance programming targeting Active Duty personnel. Supports certified WARR professionals in delivering programming tailored to diverse populations, including healthy individuals and those with medical referrals. Under the guidance of a strength and conditioning coach, athletic trainer, or other WARR team professional, adapts physical training programs based on age, medical status, and physical capabilities. Assists in implementing training programs that reflect industry best practices and comply with Marine Corps policies and regulations. May participate in professional development activities such as conferences and workshops to remain current with evolving technologies and methodologies. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment, and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. The incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance May work a fluctuating work schedule to complete work assignments outside of the typical work week and work hours. May travel to complete work assignments.

Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED required. Two years of experience within the health/fitness industry preferred. Possess and maintain a basic-level personal training certification from a nationally accredited certifying organization. Must be eligible to obtain one of the following certifications within six months of hire: USA Weightlifting Level 1 (USAW-1) or Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator (TSAC-F). Demonstrated knowledge of exercise physiology principles, concepts, and techniques to plan and conduct fitness testing, interpret results, and develop effective fitness plans. Skill in working with patrons who may have risk factors or medical referrals. Ability to administer health screenings, fitness assessments, functional assessments, exercise prescriptions, progressive fitness plans, and proper exercise techniques. Possess a current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or obtain within six months of hire. Must possess a valid driver¿s license and be able to obtain a Government Owned Vehicle (GOV) operator¿s permit for a 3-ton vehicle. Must be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries and State Criminal History Repository Check (Tier 1) with Childcare background checks which are required for positions that involve working with children under the age of 18. Employees hired into this position are required to complete the Blood and Body Fluids (BBF) medical certification within 60 days of their start date. This post-hire certification ensures compliance with Occupational Health guidelines and supports safe operational readiness for duties involving potential exposure risks. To be hired at NF-03: Must have a bachelor¿s degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Human Performance, or a related fitness discipline. Must possess one or more of the following certifications: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) from Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa) This activity is a Drug-free workplace. The time period for MSP eligibility begins 30 days before the military sponsor¿s reporting date to the new duty station, if accompanied, or at any time thereafter during the tour.
