Warehouse Supervisor who oversees large shift(s)/team(s) of warehouse operators to required site/JM supply and logistics procedural standards while also meeting performance deliverables. This may also apply to a Warehouse Supervisor at a small site which has relatively simple logistics responsibilities. Focuses on daily shift activities, and giving daily and weekly assignments to shifts; but with some activities requiring a longer term outlook.
Job Purpose
The Warehouse Shift Supervisor is responsible for the efficient operation, control, and supervision of warehouse activities during the assigned shift. This includes the receipt, storage, handling, processing, and dispatch of materials in accordance with company policies, quality standards and EHS requirements.
The role ensures inventory accuracy, adherence to FIFO principles, on-time dispatch execution, and compliance with customs and documentation procedures.
SCOPE
This position oversees all warehouse operations within the assigned shift — including coordination with Production, Planning, Quality, and Logistics teams — to ensure smooth inbound and outbound flow of materials. The role involves close supervision of warehouse associates, contract labor, and 3PL operators to maintain productivity, compliance, and service levels.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
SCOPE
Warehouse Operations
- Supervise inbound receipts, put-away, material handling, picking, and dispatch activities as per daily plans.
- Coordinate with Production, QA, and Logistics to ensure smooth material flow and on-time dispatch.
- Maintain high operational discipline in shift handovers, documentation, and system transactions (SAP/WMS).
- Conduct regular shift checks to ensure physical and system stock alignment.
- Ensure FIFO adherence and compliance with material storage guidelines.
Inventory Control
- Monitor daily stock movement and investigate discrepancies or non-conformances.
- Support cycle counting, annual stock audits, and reconciliation activities.
- Maintain updated records for batch traceability, shelf-life control, and material status.
EHS, Quality & Compliance
- Enforce EHS standards, ensure safe handling of materials, and compliance with PPE requirements.
- Ensure warehouse housekeeping, 5S adherence, and compliance with waste segregation norms.
- Monitor temperature/humidity-controlled areas where applicable and escalate any deviation. Ensure all GST compliance related to dispatches.
Team Supervision & Shift Management
- Lead and allocate work among operators, forklift drivers, and helpers to meet shift targets.
- Conduct shift briefing, manpower allocation, and job training for new associates.
- Track attendance, overtime, and performance metrics of warehouse personnel.
- Drive discipline, safety behavior, and teamwork across all warehouse staff.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and report bottlenecks, inefficiencies, or recurring issues in material flow.
- Support initiatives for layout optimization, automation, and digital warehouse tools.
- Suggest improvements in process safety, documentation accuracy, and productivity.
QUALIFICATIONS/ KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE
(TECHNICAL/ PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS COMPETENCY)
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline - Essential
- Min 8 years of experience in warehouse & distribution in Manufacturing - Essential
- Knowledge of the legal requirements of Operating a Warehouse - Essential
- Good knowledge of SAP uses (MM/PP/SD), MS-Office, FEMA, PPAP and APQP - Desired
- MBA from a recognized university. - Desired
- Understanding of Basic Quality Tools & EHS/QMS systems. - Desired
