Job Title

Warehouse Operations Supervisor

The Warehouse Operations Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day management of shipping, receiving, and inventory control functions within the warehouse. This role ensures that all warehouse operations are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with internal procedures and external regulations. The Supervisor leads a team of Associates and Team Leads, providing direction, coaching, and performance management, while collaborating with all departments to meet delivery schedules, customer requirements, and organizational goals.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Development

  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of Associates and Team Leads to ensure high performance, engagement, and adherence to company policies.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, recommend merit increases, and manage disciplinary actions in coordination with Human Resources.
  • Provide ongoing training and cross-training in shipping/receiving and inventory control procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
  • Mentor team leads in leadership competencies including communication, accountability, and conflict resolution.

Shipping & Receiving Operations

  • Oversee all shipping and receiving activities, ensuring timely and accurate processing of inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Verify physical counts against documentation to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with Planning and Production to align shipping schedules with production and customer delivery timelines.
  • Ensure proper handling, packaging, labeling, and documentation of shipments, including hazardous materials and international exports.
  • Utilize carrier systems to generate shipping documents such as packing slips, Bills of Lading, invoices, Shipper’s Export Declarations, and Letters of Instruction.
  • Negotiate with freight forwarders and carriers to secure optimal service and pricing.

Inventory & Material Handling

  • Manage inventory of shipping supplies and materials, maintaining adequate stock levels.
  • Oversee the movement of materials throughout the facility using forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks in compliance with safety standards.
  • Ensure proper storage, labeling, and tracking of materials using ERP and warehouse management systems.

Process Improvement & Compliance

  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve service levels.
  • Ensure compliance with trade regulations, export control laws, and internal quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and documentation for audits and reporting.
  • Monitor departmental KPIs and report performance metrics to leadership; identify trends and implement corrective actions as needed.

Administrative & Budgetary Oversight

  • Monitor and manage departmental labor and material budgets; report variances and recommend cost-saving measures.
  • Review and approve employee timekeeping records in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Forecast staffing and overtime needs based on production schedules and business demands.

Safety & Workplace Standards

  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure all team members wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Promote a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
  • Lead safety training and ensure compliance with OSHA and company-specific safety standards.

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Formal education and/or training in supply chain management topics is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive leadership experience in a warehouse, logistics, production, or similar environment.
  • Experience in warehouse operations.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement or structured problem-solving methodologies is preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems; experience with shipping software and carrier platforms.
  • Solid understanding of trade compliance, export documentation, and hazardous material handling.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret data and drive operational improvements.
  • Intermediate math skills, including percentages, decimals, and fractions.
  • Ability to work across shifts, backfill as needed, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

Target Hiring Range

Annual Salary: USD 71,904.00 - USD 94,913.00
