As the Head of Sales for the Power & Technology Vertical, you will be a pivotal member of the Senior Sales Leadership Team, with primary responsibility for driving sales execution, account growth and client engagement across the Power & Technology customer base.
This vertical plays a central role in Wood Mackenzie’s growth strategy, focusing on clients at the forefront of the energy transition, including utilities, independent power producers, renewable developers, grid operators, technology providers, equipment manufacturers, and digital platform companies.
You will be accountable for delivering sales performance across this client set, ensuring effective resource allocation, disciplined sales execution, and a high-performance culture. In parallel, you will help shape the company’s broader sales strategy with a particular emphasis on accelerating growth in Power & Technology markets worldwide.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead the Power & Technology sales teams globally, setting the strategy, direction, and commercial priorities to deliver ambitious sales targets.
- Drive growth by deepening relationships with strategic accounts in utilities, power producers, renewable developers, OEMs, and technology providers.
- Ensure full, disciplined adoption of MEDDPICCC, Salesforce, and other sales tools to create consistent, transparent ways of working.
- Deliver accurate and forward-looking sales forecasts, with particular focus on large, multi-geography accounts in Power & Tech.
- Coach and support teams in developing robust account plans tailored to the unique dynamics of Power & Technology markets.
- Represent Wood Mackenzie at senior industry forums and with C-suite executives in the Power & Technology ecosystem.
- Collaborate with Marketing, Product, and Consulting teams to ensure Power & Tech client needs inform go-to-market strategy, proposition development, and thought leadership.
- As a member of the Senior Sales Leadership Team, contribute to cross-vertical best practice and strategic alignment, while ensuring the Power & Technology perspective is clearly represented.
About You
- Proven experience leading sales teams in energy, technology, or related markets, with deep understanding of client drivers in renewables, power generation, grids, and digital solutions.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to align sales strategy with the rapid pace of change in Power & Technology industries.
- Comfortable engaging at the most senior client levels (C-suite, board members, government stakeholders) and positioning Wood Mackenzie as a trusted partner.
- Track record of building high-performing sales teams across multiple geographies, cultures, and customer types.
- Familiar with the complexities of long sales cycles and enterprise-level contracts common in Power & Technology sectors.
- Passionate about the role of Power & Technology in the energy transition and motivated to accelerate Wood Mackenzie’s impact in this space.
Expectations
- We are a hybrid working company and the successful applicant will be expected to be physically present in the office at least 2 days per week to foster and contribute to a collaborative environment, but this may be subject to change in the future.
- Due to the global nature of the team, a degree of flexible working will be required to accommodate different time zones
- Role requires international travel
