Duration: 1 year (renewable)

We have an exciting job offer as a Government Relations Intern (f/m/d), based in Brussels, Belgium and placed under the supervision of the Government Relations team.

As part of our team, you will help us shape, lead and influence relevant policy initiatives (water, chemicals, life sciences, etc.) through appropriate support for engagement with EU and national officials. We operate in transparent and collaborative way to drive towards consistent policy positions that support our customer’s sustainability agenda.

This role will undoubtedly be hands-on, requiring dedication and strong work ethic, but it offers a unique opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of government relations and policy-making processes. The nature of the position ensures you will be working closely with various high-level stakeholders, giving you significant exposure and a chance to develop valuable professional skills in a dynamic, international environment.

What you’ll do:

You will help promoting the company’s interest on all the relevant EU and national policy initiatives. You’ll have close interactions with business, regulatory and sustainability teams to deliver value through Government Relations. More particularly, you will:

  • Help providing policy and legislative analyses as well as implementing advocacy and lobbying strategies
  • Help position Ecolab as a sustainability / ethics leader in the sector
  • Assist team in implementing tactics to advance public policy through advocacy with associations, NGOs and key stakeholders
  • Help building coalitions to advance policy objectives
  • Help building networks externally with key government stakeholders and trade bodies
  • Support team in providing proactive, effective communications and counsel to Ecolab business leaders regarding policy developments and potential implications
  • Support team in collaborating with customers on advocacy efforts to ensure they have access to our products

What you’ll need:

  • A master’s degree, ideally in Public Affairs.
  • Fluency in English

What else would be helpful?

  • Aptitude in communicating and presenting information in a manner that persuades, educates, and enhances understanding at all levels.
  • Aptitude to work with diverse groups of internal and external individuals including lobbyists; elected politicians and regulators; trade and business associations; political organizations; and public interest groups.
  • Strong knowledge on legislative or regulatory issues and processes for a governmental entity or private sector company.
