Vice President – Financial Risk Management

Job Purpose

The Financial Risk Manager is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks for Aldar Group. This includes market risk, credit risk, and liquidity risk. The role requires a strong understanding of financial markets, risk management products and analytical skills. Support Front Office team in structuring products, optimizing investment management, and managing market risk through hedging and analytics to maintain financial stability.

Roles and Responsibilities

Financial Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate IR and FX risks. Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and quantify potential financial risks across the company. Monitor market movement and other relevant risk factors.

Policies, Procedures and Strategies: Develop and implement risk management frameworks and policies.
Develop and maintain risk management tools: Implement and maintain risk management tools, including early warning signal models, key risk indicators (KRIs), and scenario analysis tools.

Bank Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with banks and other financial institutions to negotiate favorable terms and conditions for hedging and investment management.

Market Research & Analytics: Analyze macro variables and regulations which can affect various areas of Group Treasury including market risk, liquidity & funding risk, and counterparty credit risk

Derivative structuring & dealing: Structure standalone and embedded financial derivatives to achieve financial risk management objectives of the Aldar Group

Structuring Solutions and Business Decision Support: Provide ad-hoc structuring advice to various business counterparts to enhance return, improve operational efficiency, reduce risk, and provide better customer experience.

Capital structuring and credit modelling: Design optimal capital structure for Aldar and its subsidiaries to manage credit ratings, improve accessibility to funding, optimize cost, improve shareholder returns, and manage FX risk. This would be done in conjunction with Aldar’s Corporate Finance function.

Investment management & yield enhancement: Optimize returns on surplus cash while maintaining liquidity profile and ensuring capital protection.

Prepare regular risk reports for senior management and the Board of Directors.

Treasury Management System: Support members of Group Treasury to select, implement, and manage treasury management systems.

Support other members of Aldar’s Group Treasury on various projects and day-to-day activities.

Experience
Min of 10+ years of experience in a corporate treasury environment. Multinational corporate treasury a plus.
Min of 2+ years in managerial experience

Field of Experience
USD interest rates and G10+EM FX hedging are preferable, but not a must

Technical and Interpersonal Skills
Risk Identification & Assessment: Ability to identify, assess, and quantify potential financial risks.
Risk Mitigation: Ability to develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data and identify potential risks.
Communication & Presentation: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex risk information to senior management
Financial modelling – DCF, structured finance, shadow rating model, cash flow forecasts
Investment management – treasury products & derivative overlays
Market Risk Management – derivatives structuring & dealing, ISDA/CSA negotiations
Proficiency in MS Office and treasury software applications (TMS, Bloomberg, others). Proficiency in coding language/tools (Python, EViews, MATLAB) is a big plus
Negotiate with banks and relationship management. Design derivative RFPs/RFQs

Qualification
Bachelor’s degree/certificate in accounting, finance, engineering, statistics, or economics from a reputable university, CFA/FRM is a plus
