Title and Summary

Vice President, Employment Tax

Overview:
This newly created in-house role will support Mastercard’s finance organization by leading the employment tax function across global jurisdictions. The Vice President, Employment Tax will be responsible for employment tax compliance matters, risk management, payroll tax audits, and cross-functional collaboration with Payroll, Legal, Finance, Corporate Tax, and Global Mobility teams. The leadership role is designed to strengthen governance and operational efficiency in response to evolving regulatory landscapes and business needs.

Role:
• Develop and execute Mastercard’s global employment tax policy, ensuring alignment with corporate tax objectives and risk tolerance.
• Lead compliance efforts for payroll tax audits, and reporting procedures across federal, state, local, and international jurisdictions.
• Serve as the primary advisor on employment tax matters, including compensation structures, benefits, and mobility programs.
• Lead employment tax audits and manage responses to inquiries from taxing authorities.
• Establish and maintain policies and controls to manage employment tax risks.
• Provide training and guidance to internal teams on employment tax topics.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and assess their impact on Mastercard’s employment tax posture and policies.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to support M&A integration, system implementations, and process enhancements with employment tax implications.
• Grow and develop a team to support employment tax agenda and strategic objectives.

All About You:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or related field; CPA or advanced degree preferred.
• Demonstrated subject-matter expertise in employment/payroll tax, including relevant leadership roles in multinational organizations.
• Deep expertise in U.S. federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations with international payroll tax experience from previous work experience.
• Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
• Proven ability to effectively communicate with senior stakeholders and lead cross-functional initiatives.
• Experience building or restructuring an employment tax function.
• Familiarity with shared service center environments and global mobility programs.
• Demonstrated ability to lead change and implement process improvements.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Purchase, New York: $221,000 - $353,000 USD

O'Fallon, Missouri: $192,000 - $307,000 USD
