VFX Production Assistant

General Summary 

The VFX Production Assistant is responsible for providing administrative and production support to the LAIKA Visual Effects (VFX) Department. This position requires clear communication, organization, consistent follow-through, and reliability as primary importance in order to keep up with the fast-paced demands of production. 

Job Functions 

  • Respond to department needs and crew requests under VFX management.
  • Communicate with other internal departments and external vendors.
  • Assist management with paid time off (PTO) processing and communications, as well as compiling monthly expenditure reports for Accounting.  
  • Assist VFX Coordinators with recording, tracking and distributing notes, schedules and/or any other necessary information.   
  • Input shot information and notes into ShotGrid production database.
  • Create dailies playlists and operate Screening Room projector/playback system to assist Coordinators with reviews, as needed.  
  • Maintain VFX Department crew lists, onboarding needs and facilities requests
  • Maintain department calendars and Supervisors/Production Management’s schedules.  
  • Follow up with VFX employees to ensure completion of timecards before Department Head sign-off, that they are present at required meetings, and are properly adhering to schedule timeframes
  • Run errands including, but not limited to, working meals and production supplies, and assist with miscellaneous tasks as needed. 

Qualifications 

  • Basic computer skills, including working knowledge of Photoshop, MS Office, and database software.
  • Knowledge of ShotGrid, preferred.      
  • Able to troubleshoot and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to communicate and interact effectively with a variety of people with tact and a high amount of customer service.
  • Exhibit a strong attention to detail, positive attitude and work ethic.

  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee works under typical office conditions and is exposed to variable indoor temperatures. The noise level is usually quiet or moderate.

Salary

$20.00/hour set rate, non-negotiable.
