What will you do?

A day in the life of a Designer, Apparel Graphics at Vans looks a little like this.

This role is responsible for creating compelling graphic packages across all channels. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Apparel Graphics, this position supports graphic development from concept through presentations and bulk approvals. A strong focus on creativity and precision, this individual will be part of the broader Product Design team.

Let’s break down that day-in-the-life a bit more.

  • Use your graphic skills to create designs that are original, iconic, unique and innovative that align with our creative vision and Vans culture.  
  • Adhere to the Vans graphic design process and direction for all of Men’s, Women’s and Youth Apparel 
  • Partner with your Manager and Merchandising on all graphics to ensure consistency and alignment with all project requests. 
  • Create accurate and thorough design tech-packs for development to ensure proper execution. 
  • Communicate and work cross functionally within the Apparel design dept. 
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork skills through cooperating with cross-functional team members. 
  • Establish strong communication with other management staff, employees and others with whom the company conducts business.  
  • Facilitate multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment as challenging projects are a given.  
  • Adhere to all calendar dates.  

What do you need to succeed?

We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundation skills you’ll need to succeed and excel. Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your 5+ years of experience and professional achievements

The foundation skills you will need in this position are:

  • Proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop and Procreate  
  • Ability to spot new and emerging trends and bring fresh ideas to the team 
  • Knowledge of design processes with print techniques and tech-packs.  
  • Ability to work within seasonal stories in a team dynamic. 
  • Fast paced graphic design workload, able to work under tight deadlines and time constraints.  
  • Strong multi-tasking, communication and organization qualities are a must 
  • Ability to establish, communicate and maintain effective relationships with all design departments. 

Location requirement: Hybrid schedule in-office in Costa Mesa, CA.

There are also a few skills that are not required but preferred.

  • Ability to work in multiple mediums on and off the computer/iPad. 
  • Ability to explore and express wide ranges of art and design styles
  • Knowledge of different style/fashion genres Street culture, Fashion & Macro Trends

Hiring Range:

$82,080.00 USD - $102,600.00 USD annually

Incentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, or commission potential. Specific details of the additional compensation eligibility for this position will be provided during the recruiting and interview process.
