Job Summary: The US Payroll Manager at Zoetis coordinates daily payroll operations, collaborating with Human Resources, Compensation & Benefits, Finance, Treasury, IT Services teams, external vendors, and government agents. This role will also lead continuous improvement initiatives while shaping and contributing to a Global Payroll approach.
Payroll Management and Compliance
Co-Manage the North American payroll process, ensuring compliance with government regulations.
Resolve US tax issues with tax authorities and TPA.
Calculate and prepare annual 1099 MISC forms.
Provide the Tax Team with required payroll data for Zoetis tax incentives in multiple states.
Provide required external reporting data (e.g., worker comp non-monopolistic state data, escheatment, lobbying efforts, Census Bureau, BLS, disability carrier).
Oversee payroll integrations and solutions in Workday including EIB submissions
Manage employer tax data updating tax rates for US legal entities
Manage payroll HR Communication
Responsible for oversight of payroll vendor to ensure deadlines are met
Project Management and Continuous Improvement
Lead continuous improvement initiatives and other projects contributing to Global Payroll approach.
Represent the payroll team on US acquisition integration projects.
Represent the global payroll team on projects transitioning pay groups from legacy vendors to SAP and providing support during the transition.
Reconcile general ledger payroll and accounting for all Zoetis global legal entities
Utilize AI systems to efficiently manage payroll data
Accounting and Budget Management
Prepare accounting reconciliations for approximately 25 global HR-Payroll accounts using the Blackline tool as required.
Reconcile and request funding for US payroll taxes, garnishments, savings plans, and HSA.
Prepare and present LE’s and the Annual Plan to HRLT members and FP&A.
Serve as the Payroll SME for both external and internal auditors.
Purchase Orders and Vendor Management
Create global purchase orders for vendor invoices and provide ongoing market support.
Act as the Business Sponsor for new Global Payroll/HR suppliers, including TPRM.
Troubleshoot file errors with the local Zoetis team and vendors.
Maintain and monitor the budget for invoices and purchase orders against global payroll service level agreements.
Report monthly invoice and global purchase order analytics to management.
Prepare and present relevant data for payroll contract renewals
Reporting and Data Presentation
Develop and distribute monthly payroll reports to internal management.
Manage the global payroll file G/L posting process, including:
Oversee the month end process submitting reports for compliance
Prepare and provide summary payroll registers for pay groups on legacy G/L platforms
Staff Management and Support
Onboard, train, and guide payroll staff.
Resolve US colleague pay inquiries via the ZCS Team.
Support and research payroll financial inquiries.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Accounting or Finance).
3-5 years of related experience in Global Payroll Operations
Working knowledge of Workday payroll for North America
Working knowledge of ADP Celergo for Global Payroll
Strong basis in local, state, and federal employment laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
Proven strategic leadership and emotional intelligence.
Effective communication skills to manage teams, interact with stakeholders, and external vendors.
3-5 years of experience managing third party vendor management
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, CoPilot
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and prioritizing skills.
Strong analytical skills to work with high-volume data, ensuring accuracy and spotting anomalies.
Ensuring payroll data integrity and maintaining compliance with data protection regulations.
Ability to troubleshoot issues and implement effective solutions.
Flexibility to handle the dynamic nature of global payroll management.
Demonstrated initiatives to improve payroll processes and system.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $109,310 - $124,000. Our salary ranges are
determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the base pay target range
for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional
factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
