Underwriting Financial Analyst

The Underwriting Financial Analyst provides comprehensive administrative and operational support to the Casualty Reinsurance Underwriting and Finance teams. This role is responsible for managing and facilitating various financial and underwriting support functions, including but not limited to overseeing the dedicated finance email box, validating account or treaty information, pursuing supporting documentation directly from producers or other third-party affiliated teams, inputting and interpreting premium and loss data, reconciling figures, technical processing, mid-term adjustments, and organizing electronic records.
In addition, the position may also include supporting Underwriters and/or the Senior Underwriting Assistant through binding and submission processing. The role may also include miscellaneous operational initiatives, and other ad hoc operational projects as assigned.
This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate and efficient flow of information between departments and external partners. It requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and communication skills, capable of balancing multiple priorities in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.

Primary Function: Finance Support
• Monitor and manage the team’s dedicated finance email inbox, ensuring timely review, organization, and response to inquiries.
• Triage incoming correspondence, route requests to appropriate team members, and track follow-ups to completion.
• Support the reconciliation of reinsurance statements, premium payments, and any claims activity.
• Assist with data entry, validation, and maintenance of financial and underwriting records in internal systems.
• Coordinate with Underwriting, Finance, and Actuarial teams to resolve data discrepancies and ensure alignment across departments.
• Prepare and update reports, summaries, and supporting documentation for reinsurance transactions and settlements.
• Help process billing statements, payment instructions, and cash allocations in accordance with client’s contracts and deadlines.
• Maintain organized digital files and documentation to support audits and compliance requirements.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing accuracy, efficiency, and communication between Finance and Underwriting.
• Provide general administrative and analytical support to the Finance and Casualty Reinsurance Underwriting teams as needed.
Underwriting Support
• Assist the Senior Underwriting Assistant in the preparation and tracking of reinsurance submissions, including gathering required underwriting information and documentation.
• Input and maintain submission data in underwriting systems and trackers to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Coordinate with brokers and internal stakeholders to follow up on outstanding information and updates.
• Support underwriters during the binding process by preparing binders, slips, and other contractual documents.
• Verify that all bound risks are properly recorded, filed, and communicated to Finance for billing and reporting purposes.
• Maintain organized files and records for all active and historical submissions.
Operations
• Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance data accuracy across Finance, Underwriting, and Operations functions.
• Support team-wide initiatives aimed at improving communication, productivity, and overall operational performance.
• Participate in the configuration, testing, or development of new systems and tools to support both Underwriting and Finance processes.
• Provide feedback and assist with user acceptance testing (UAT) for system upgrades or new platform implementations.
