About the team/division

Structured Solutions is a newly formed line of business, which offers innovative structured (re)insurance solutions to corporate clients. These products are typically multi-year and/or multi-line and are often provided where traditional insurance solutions do not adequately meet a client’s needs. The solutions we provide involve significant risk sharing features, ensuring a strong alignment of interest between us and our clients.

Structured Solutions sits within Hiscox Portfolio Solutions, a division launching in January 2026 as a key strategic growth area within Hiscox London Market. The division is an area of strategic growth for both Hiscox London Market and the Group. In addition to Structured Solutions, the division brings together a diverse range of portfolio businesses including Alternative Risk, Beta and Global MGA.

What you’ll be doing in the role

The key to success in this role will be a detailed underwriting approach, a strong analytical mindset and unparalleled relationship building skills. You will need to thrive as much on relationship management as underwriting and analytics and have an insatiable appetite for developing innovative solutions to complex problems.

We don’t limit ourselves to a class of business and so you will need to be adaptable, agile and knowledgeable when it comes to underwriting. Your underwriting knowledge will allow you to identify the right opportunities and take these from concept to reality. You will combine quantitative expertise with commercial acumen to drive profitable and disciplined growth.

Responsibilities:

• Analyse, model, price and support the underwriting of structured (re)insurance transactions.
• Assist in the triaging of new business inquiries.
• Attend and support client and broker meetings as appropriate.
• Support day-to-day underwriting activities, including but not limited to the underwriting process and deal administration & documentation.
• Contribute to the production of portfolio analytics, respond to ad-hoc data requests and support accumulation monitoring activities.
• Support the production of marketing materials.
• Prepare, clean and validate data for pricing activities, portfolio analyses and reporting.
• Assist senior underwriters and contract wording specialists in the review of draft policy wordings.

 The Candidate

• At least two years of general (re)insurance actuarial pricing experience, ideally in Casualty and/or Property lines.
  • Experience within an Alternative Risk Transfer or equivalent team is advantageous but not required.
  • Familiarity with stochastic modelling is advantageous but not required.
• A commercial and logical mind with the ability to think creatively.
• Strong communication skills; able to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment whilst meeting strict deadlines.
• Decisive in nature, displaying good judgement in decisions and taking accountability.
• A driven individual with a pro-active, self-starter mindset who demonstrates interest and enthusiasm to learn within the role.
• Advanced Excel abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Progress in the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries examinations and commitment to complete them.
• A degree (or equivalent) in a quantitative discipline.
