For the expansion of the Translational Science team, argenx is actively looking for a highly motivated Translational Scientist with expertise in immunology research. As a translational Scientist you take on a key role in supporting late translational work and clinical applications, leading translational and biomarker strategies to maximize the impact of research on patient outcomes. This role combines expertise in immunology, translational science, and biomarker development, supporting early clinical readiness and driving scientific innovation across multiple projects and disease areas. You will work in close collaboration with internal and external project teams. We are specifically looking for a polyvalent scientist keen to work on different projects, with knowledge of setting up translational studies. 
 

This position is based at our facility in Zwijnaarde, Belgium. Main roles & responsibilities

  • Contribute to the set-up and refinement of translational strategies, with a strong focus on understanding the mode of disease
  • Define research questions to enhance understanding of the disease mechanisms, enabling informed selection of disease indications and the evaluation of therapeutic opportunities
  • Drive the execution of translational studies including development, validation, and sample analysis, both internally and/or in collaboration with external vendors or academic collaborators
  • Act as a subject matter expert in translational models, providing scientific and strategic guidance across projects
  • Develop analytical study plans, analyze and interpret data, and deliver clear, actionable reports 
  • Ensure timely data read-outs and foster transparent information sharing across teams 
  • Ensure adequate data management and storage, to facilitate effective data interpretation along with transparent data sharing 
  • Collaborate with internal development, commercial, and medical teams to streamline translational needs and prioritize efforts
  • Contribute to the growth and further development of the Translational Science team

Professional experience / expertise

  • PhD in ImmunologyNeurology or associated areas with at least 3 years of relevant research / industry experience, or Master’s degree with extensive (8+ years) industry experience in translational studies
  • Pharma / Biotech experience in translational strategies is a plus 
  • Proven track record / publications in innovative science  
  • Experience of disease areas / conditions aligned to argenx’s core immunology-focused ambitions
  • Experience with in vivo/in vitro models, ligand binding assays, and other analytical platforms (e.g., flow cytometry, proteomics, molecular biology, immunohistochemistry) 
  • Experience in managing outsourced activities at external vendors and academic collaborations
  • Understanding of GCP/GCLP guidelines and global regulations
