This position is open for recruitment and fully funded following the 2025 Special Legislative Session.

The role: 

Join our team as a training specialist! In this role, you will coordinate and deliver technical and non-technical training at our DMV Headquarters and in correctional facilities to ensure employees have the tools and knowledge they need to perform their jobs efficiently and effectively. You will also develop, maintain and evaluate training materials to ensure course content is up to date and serve as a technical resource for the development of new training materials. A day in the life:

  • Deliver new and refresher training to employees.

  • Prepare for training classes by sending class date notifications, coordinating facilities, preparing training materials and scheduling speakers.

  • Evaluate employee attendance and provide feedback on performance.

  • Record class completion information into database and prepare reports.

  • Design complex instructional materials, lesson plans and audiovisual presentation materials.

  • Assist with updating training curriculum and reference materials.

  • Evaluate effectiveness of training by reviewing reports, monitoring job performance in gathering input from managers.

  • Maintain current and thorough knowledge of the work performed in field offices, driver licensing, vehicle titling and registration policies and procedures.

  • Work is performed in an office environment and requires delivering trainings to employees at DMV Headquarters and to adults in custody inside correctional facilities with occasional travel required.

Minimum qualifications:

Three years of work experience planning, organizing, or delivering employee training programs, adult learning programs, youth instructional programs, or group presentations. Experience must demonstrate the application of the principles and practices of learning;

OR

A bachelor's degree in education, organizational psychology, business or public administration, training and development, organizational behavior, human resources, or related field;

OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special qualifications:

Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, produce results and work collaboratively with others.

  • Experience and confidence in general computer navigation and using Microsoft Suite programs.
