Training & Performance Specialist, DACH

Purpose of the role -

The Training & Performance Specialist will work with the retail managers and staff of Aesop DACH to develop and enhance Aesop retail methods, disciplines and training. In this role you will be responsible for the delivery of product, service and retail capability training across their region. You will also work closely with the Commercial Manager, DACH & Scandinavia to launch regional initiatives, while working equally closely with their region’s Retail Business Managers in ensuring all initiatives are aligned for the region. You will collaborate with the Commercial Manager to ensure that training activities align with the regional commercial goals. The ability to build relationships across the region, coupled your experience and passion for developing people will ensure success in this position.

This is a full time position and will report to the Commercial Manager, DACH & Scandinavia. This role is based in Hamburg or Berlin, Germany.

Key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to –

  • Facilitate Retail Induction and other training sessions for all new employees to Aesop in DACH including office and retail employees.
  • Work with the Retail Business Managers, Store and Counter Managers to monitor, mentor and coach retail staff as required and support company strategy and agreed learning outcomes.
  • Travel around DACH to facilitate training and other associated activities in stores, with direction from retail team.
  • Collate and analyse feedback received from training programs and follow up as required.
  • To lead by example in customer service, product prescription, Aesop demonstration techniques and personal presentation and grooming.
  • Ensure that the global retail training and learning and development strategies are appropriately implemented.
  • Assist in preparing an annual budget for the DACH training function and ensure financial and operating KPIs are met.
  • Keep abreast of advancements in retail training, particularly new technologies and methodologies, along with developments in sales and service training.
  • With the assistance of the European Training & Performance Manager / Training and Performance Coordinator's, manage Aesop’s LMS for their region ensuring all content is current and relevant, and reflects the Aesop brand, tone, business strategy and culture from a regional perspective.
  • Manage and assist with translation and proof-reading of learning material.

To be successful, you will have –

  • 2+ years of experience in retail product and customer service training 
  • Fluent in German and English is required (also fluency in French will be highly regarded)
  • Working knowledge of blended learning methodologies 
  • Hands-on, practical problem solving and process improvement skills 
  • Ability to travel frequently is required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Deep affinity of the Aesop brand and its values
  • Able to promote change and creative improvement, adapting new approaches to learning and training
