About the role:
We are offering an exciting role for a Training Equipment Safety Co-ordinator who will be responsible for leading and managing the company's health and safety program specifically related to training equipment. This includes developing, implementing, and monitoring safety policies and procedures, providing specialized training, and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and industry standards.
This role will require regular monthly/weekly site visits across the Selborne Training Equipment estate (CWD / EXC / SUL / DDS / BRNC / RAL / CUL/ COL / CLYDE). The successful candidate will foster a proactive safety culture, manage a team of advisors, and act as a subject matter expert on all training equipment-related safety matters. Reports directly to Training Equipment Team Lead.
- Eligible to work in the UK and must possess (or be able to obtain) SC level security clearance.
- A diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety is preferred. Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent are often required.
- Proven experience in a health and safety role, with specific experience managing and providing training on equipment. Experience in a leadership or supervisory position is highly desirable.
- In-depth understanding of health and safety legislation, risk assessment methodologies, and best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to all levels of the organization.
- A confident leader with the ability to influence and motivate others to embed a positive safety culture.
- A meticulous and organized approach to conducting inspections, maintaining records, and developing procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address and mitigate safety challenges.
- Proficient in IT and able to use various software for reporting, data analysis, and creating training materials.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain a robust health and safety program focused on the use, maintenance, and storage of all training equipment.
- Providing guidance, support, and performance management to ensure all safety goals are met.
- Coordinate with managers and stakeholders across departments to ensure the consistent application of health and safety standards. At multiple locations, primarily Southeast, West & North as listed above.
- Represent the team in meetings and serve as a deputy for the Raytheon Health and Safety Manager as needed.
- Design and deliver onsite comprehensive training programs, including induction, refresher courses, and toolbox talks, on the safe use of training equipment.
- Create engaging and effective training materials, such as presentations, e-learning modules, and manuals.
- Assess training needs, evaluate program effectiveness, and update training content to reflect changes in legislation and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and site inspections to identify potential hazards associated with all training equipment. At multiple locations, primarily Southeast, West & North as listed above.
- Ensure safe operational procedures for the handling, maintenance, and storage of training equipment.
- Manage and maintain equipment registers, ensuring all equipment is regularly checked, calibrated, and maintained.
- Ensure full compliance with all local, national, and company health and safety legislation and regulations.
- Investigate all incidents, near-misses, and accidents related to training equipment to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate onsite visit records of all inspections, audits, and incidents, producing regular reports for management.
- Liaise with Raytheon and external enforcement authorities, such as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), as necessary.
- To work in a flexible way and undertake any other duties reasonably requested by line management which are commensurate with the level of responsibility of this post/ role.
