The Role at a Glance

The Training Director is responsible for directing the operations of the Fire Extension group, ensuring the delivery of high-quality training to firefighters and first responders across Texas. Provides direct supervision of Regional Training Managers assigned to TEEX’s designated geographic regions, providing oversight and support to ensure consistent program execution statewide. Responsibilities include operational leadership, program coordination, course scheduling, personnel assignments, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Oversees contract management, asset management, development of new training initiatives, and marketing efforts to expand program reach. Conducts employee evaluations, manages leave requests, prepares budgets, and generates course-related reports. Maintains active engagement with state agencies and fire service organizations to enhance training offerings and grow the program’s market base. Plays a strategic role in planning and program development, fostering collaboration with the Law Enforcement Extension Training Director and Infrastructure Extension Training Director.

This position reports to the TEEX Extension Program Director.

Qualifications of the Role

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ten years of program management experience including three years of supervisory experience.

  • Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

Equivalency: Will consider an Associate’s degree with twelve years of program management experience or a High School Diploma/GED with fourteen years of program management experience.
