Position Overview:

The position of Weld Trainer’s primary function is to partner in the supervision, leadership, training and recruitment of the Weld Department’s Day-to-daywork duties of all department personnel, focusing on teaching and guiding individuals in Production welding.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensuring welders achieve the highest standards of weld techniques for MIG and TIG welding of aluminum boats through creating and implementing comprehensive welding training programs, teaching various welding processes, MIG and TIG, reading work orders.
  • Requires the trainer to emphasize and enforce safety protocols and procedures related to welding equipment, materials, and work environment.
  •  Increase Quality and Efficiency as well as continuous improvement processes in training and development processes.
  •  Responsible for compliance with welding procedures, as well as identifying risks and hazards through all training programs.
  • Have a thorough understanding of welding safety standards and best practices.
  • Have the capacity to adapt teaching methods to different learning styles and provide constructive guidance.  
  • Conduct inspection and testing to ensure welders maintain adherence to quality standards.
  • Develop and implement training, and standards to ensure compliance with applicable ASTM or AWS weld standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to follow established weld techniques and have several years of welding experience in aluminum welding.
  • Detailed and organized.
  • Self-starter, team player with good safety awareness.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively and adapt teaching methods to diverse learners.  
  • Good attendance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Math (fractions), reading and measurement proficiency.

Working Conditions:

  • Regularly required to work at heights on platforms, lifting parts and pieces up to 50 lbs., traveling up and down stairs, sitting, squatting, and bending in various awkward positions for certain lengths of time - including working overhead, traveling in and out of work areas, walking and being on your feet for a majority of the workday
  • Exposed to noise, dust, fumes, and odors daily.
  •  Physical exertion is required. Requires standing, bending and twisting for a 10-hour shift. May be required to work in a non-air-conditioned area. Vision protection, and steel-toed shoes are required. Hearing protection is required. 

The anticipated pay range starts at $25.50 per hour. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job- related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.

At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
