Summary:
Exciting opportunity for Thermofluids Engineer in India to help shape the Defence business by supporting key programme milestones aligned with the Defence Combat strategy at Rolls-Royce India.
You will be responsible for design and analysis of gas turbine air, oil, fuel, and thermal management systems along with component through whole engine thermal analysis, balancing product attributes to meet customer needs. Working with multi-disciplinary teams, you’ll use relevant tools to deliver cost-effective solutions that consider the full product lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed fluid flow analyses of gas turbine engine air, oil, and/or fuel systems, subsystems, and components using 1-D network analysis and possibly Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) analyses in support of fluid flow and heat transfer understanding.
- Perform detailed thermo-mechanical analyses of gas turbine engine component, subsystems and/or whole engine temperatures and/or deflections using 1D, 2D and 3D Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
- Apply systems engineering concepts to define whole engine Thermo-fluid systems and support resolution of system-level issues. This will include working together with other engineers in Thermo-fluids, Engine Performance, Controls, Installations, Turbines, Compressors, Combustion, and Power Transmission Systems.
- Support engine development testing through analysis or on-site test by planning, monitoring, inspection of instrumented hardware (pre and post-test), data reduction, and model validation.
- Contribute to your team by defining and completing technical work packages to meet customer requirements and implementing systems engineering approaches.
Qualifications:
- 3-15 years of experience with Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering; other qualifications with relevant experience may be considered.
- Experience in gas turbine secondary air system, oil system, fuel system or thermal management system design, modelling, and analysis.
- Experience in finite element-based heat transfer or thermo-mechanical analysis.
- Highly numerate with strong technical and analytical skills, problem-solving ability and capable of systems level thinking.
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills for interfacing with multiple groups, and will need to be able to contribute effectively in a team environment.
